Frankly, I am a little surprised at this. Broward Sheriff's office is usually pretty thorough.
A Florida Highway Patrol trooper investigating a wrecked car on Interstate 95 Monday did not notice the crash's victim, dead in a ditch near the highway.
The body of Delvin Lewis, 29, of Fort Lauderdale, was found the next day by his girlfriend, according to the FHP.
Officials think Lewis, who was driving his girlfriend's 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier, was on the southbound exit ramp to Oakland Park Boulevard when he struck a guardrail. He was ejected from the car and landed in an embankment as the car continued to roll into a grassy area, the FHP said.http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/bro...,3685052.storyAn FHP trooper responding to reports of an abandoned car investigated the crash scene but did not see the body, according to the FHP. That trooper had the car towed, then left the scene.
On Tuesday, a wrecker company contacted the car's owner, who said she didn't know the car had been in an accident and that her boyfriend was missing. The FHP did not release her name.
That woman found her boyfriend's body when she stopped by the crash scene later that night, the FHP said.
