Mark Devereaux, 41, of Dundee, admitted to four charges of culpable and reckless conduct at the High Court in Edinburgh this week, after he had unprotected sex with four different women without telling them of his infection.
The crimes took place between January
2003 and December
2008 when Devereaux, diagnosed with the virus in
1994, had sex with the women.
One of his victims was later diagnosed with the virus when she was three months pregnant, while three of his victims escaped infection.
One of the women who avoided contracting HIV said his actions were "despicable".
The woman, who is now 27, had a year-long relationship with Devereaux when she was 20 years old in 2003.
She said he was "definitely an evil person".
The woman said: "He is extremely manipulative. We had been trying for a baby after seeing each other for a long time and I wasn't aware that he was putting my health at risk.
