A Salisbury man is facing child abuse and assault charges after being accused of repeatedly punching his teenage daughter in the face during a dispute.
The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office says the incident occurred in the early afternoon of Saturday, Jan. 2 at a home on the 500 block of North Curlew Road in Salisbury. According to police, a deputy met with a woman who stated that she was arguing with 35-year-old Vaughn M. Parker when that argument turned physical.
The woman told the deputy that when she tried to walk away, Vaughn pushed her into a wall. Police say that as the arguing couple moved into another room, Vaughn pushed the woman over a table. Police say that when the couple's daughter attempted to intervene, Vaughn punched her repeatedly in her face. The deputy observed injuries on the victims consistent with their accounts, according to police.
Vaughn was arrested for first-degree assault, second-degree assault and child abuse. He is being held in the Wicomico County Detention Center in lieu of $50,000 bond.
