Murlene Watson scalded the 2-month old

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Authorities on Wednesday charged a Greensboro woman with child abuse after her 8-week-old infant was hospitalized with what police are calling "suspicious burns."

According to police, Murlene Watson, 27, of 3309 N. Church St., dipped her baby in scalding hot water and waited more than 11 hours before calling for help.

The baby has second-degree burns on its feet and legs and will require skin grafts.

Watson was charged with felony child abuse and contributing to the neglect of a child. She was arrested and jailed under a $15,000 bond.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.

This shit qualifies for just for that. I'll help.

That poor baby suffered, suffered for 11 fucking hours and is still doing so because of this woman. I will never understand the ability for people to hurt a baby then leave them to suffer. Sick, simply sick.

    Heal completely little one.

Not exactly the same thing here I know but I wonder if this mom experienced something similar to what I did when my daughter was a baby.

When my daughter was a few weeks old I took her to a softball game. It was a chilly, cloudy March day. Being that we are very fair I still put sunscreen on her and sat under an umbrella. After I finished feeding her my sister wanted to hold her. While she was holding her, my daughter spit up. My sister wiped her face with a wet wipe. She held her for about 10 minutes after that and then I packed up and went home. I noticed at bedtime that her face looked just a little bit pink (just a slight sunburn) but other than that she looked and acted fine. The next morning (Easter morning I might add) my hubby and I woke up to find our daughter's eyes swollen shut and weeping blisters on all over her face. We had spent the night at my hubby's parents house and they live in the sticks so we ended up at some little nothing of a hospital. They immediately transferred her to the Augusta burn center. She spent the night there and had to have her little face "dressed" and lots of antibiotics. I explained the events that lead up to us noticing her burn. The doc told us that burns can take time to develop sometimes and the pain is not fully realized right away. (The doctor was Cuban and also told us that white people should really stay out of the sun and that they never learn! LOL) Now I am not a bad parent, and I did not wait to have her treated on purpose. I honestly did not know how badly she was burned. Could it have been prevented? Yes. Did I know that I had done something wrong? At the time, no. Not until the burn "developed" did I realize what had happened. My daughter has some slight scarring that has mostly faded away on her face.
I am not defending this mom, she should have checked the water carefully before putting her baby in it. I just wonder if she waited 11 hours to get care on purpose or if she did not realize at first how badly the little one was injured.
