The most beautiful thing is to see a person smiling…
And even more beautiful is, knowing that you are the reason behind it.

    Fair enough.

And, if a child likes their hair long or feels that's how they look best, then they should be entitled to that opinion. It is just a haircut.
They most certainly are entitled to that opinion, just not the haircut. And I think that's an important lesson to learn. Sometimes, consessions have to be made and rules have to be followed, even if they don't necessarily make sense. Lots of employers ban tattoos, long hair on men, facial hair, etc.

Plus, quite frankly, I'm quite sure that there is something more important in the school that they could be focusing their attention on!
Well, sure, but that's not really the point. Apparently, this has been part of the dress code since the 70s and is well known. It seems to me that the mom is forcing them to pay more attention to it than they might otherwise.
"Now that ceaseless exposure has calloused us to the lewd and the vulgar, it is instructive to see what still seems wicked to us. What still slaps the clammy flab of our submissive consciousness hard enough to get our attention?"

UPDATE: Parents finally realized sons education is important

-- A 4-year-old Texas boy disciplined for having long hair has returned to his class with a brand new 'do.

Pre-kindergartner Taylor Pugh rejoined his classmates at his suburban Dallas elementary school on Tuesday.

Elizabeth Taylor says her son's hair is still long, but now she's styled it in a double French braid pinned up at the base of his neck. The school principal approved the style.

The boy typically wears his hair long and had been sequestered from classmates at Floyd Elementary School in Balch Springs since late November.

The long hair violates the school district's dress code. It says boys' hair must be kept out of the eyes and cannot extend below the bottom of earlobes or over the collar of a dress shirt.

I am glad they finally put the boys education before his hair

I think the school is trying to instill in its students the need to follow the rules. I am sorry to say this is a necessary evil in the real world when it comes to dealing with the average student and the typical corporate environment they will probably end up in.

If you have talent and/or are not lazy, it speaks for itself anymore. I have a penis and my hair is half way down my back. I can pick and choose who I work for - not the other way around. If I were in a position where I really needed the gig and I had to cut my hair I would though.

Now that this decision has been made, do you think he will cut his hair (or make a similar change) in the future if he needs to do so? I don't think he will and I fear it will be a problem for his future family or just himself.

I was thinking the same thing. If I were a boy, I'd rather just get a cut.
Dakota Valkyrie : You don't have FBI in Canada. It would probably be the Royal Mounted Child Porn Cadets or some other gang dressed up with cool hats that came in shooting up your pussy

Asinine. I think they all just got tired of quibbling about it. They just traded one "out of norm" do for another. Nice compromise, though.

Side note: My brother has always had long hair. At age 4, one of my daughters asked me "Is Uncle Roc a boy or a girl?"
