thanks, i'll holla at you if you're trying to do something with music. i deal with mostly samples, used wave editing programs to chop up beats for the past 12 years and then one day i was stoned and was listening to pink floyd's "breathe", and thought "well that would be a nice beat if it was a bit faster", and that's when i realized i didn't need other people's beats anymore because i could create my own

Yup I now rock the red. When I started watching hockey I was all about the pens. Then after Jagr was sent to the caps of all teams to be sent to thats when I started watching them. Been a Caps fan ever since. Im all about Mike Green though Ovechkin is an amazing player.

nice. hockey is by far the best sport and any fan is a friend of mine! green is nice with it, and ovechkin is amazing, but he needs to chill with the knee on knee hits before somebody gets really hurt. it was almost himself!

Hockey is a real sport lol. I was just teasing about the whole islanders thing. A bit of rivalry is always a good thing. Its cool having someone to talk hockey with.

Ovechkin needs to chill alot. I hate his attitude, someone needs to reign that boy in. He is brilliant on the ice and an amazing skater but his antics are a bit much.

yup, no commercial breaks every 2 seconds, and it's not a boring slowpaced game either. there need to be more hockey fans in the US. i have grown to hate the summer, aside from july 1 free agency day, because baseball is SOOOOOOOOOOO BORING!

and it's funny you say that about ovechkin, i think it's a unanimous thing at this point, especially given the past few games, it's almost horrifying to see someone that great at the game make plays like that. personally i think the league has coddled people like him and crosby for too long. plus colin campbell is an idiot who hands out uneven suspensions, so if he thinks he's gonna be left off easy every time, why bother?

and glad you were kidding, cuz i'm a straight up die hard, lol.

That is awesome. I wish I could do the same. Any artistic thing that I do, definitely is helped by many people. It's awesome that you can just come up with your own beats! When I start taking a hip-hop dance class, I'll definitely have to come to you with music options.

Baseball makes me want to claw my eyes out. I can tolerate football. But its hockey all the way. Me and my little brother have the Ovechkin debate all the time. Makes me want to smack him. He thinks that Ovechkin is the best thing since sliced bread. Crosby is a good player who dosnt have the attitude problem like so many with the skills he has. But look who his mentor is too. Nothing is going to be done with Ovechkin until he seriously hurts someone but its going to be to late. Hes already got it in his head thats hes Gods Gift to the ice.

ps next time we play the islanders im going to have to send you hate mail or something just to keep the rivalry going

Hip Hop producer? Take me through how that works. I know a friend named Shannon who is a hip hop producer who wants me to direct a video for him, only thing is....he's never produced a single goddamn record. Just knocks off other beats, and is a glorified DJ with egg crates on his walls and shit, and bought a small studio set up from his dead mother's money.

lolllllll, baseball i gotta be either at the game hanging out and yapping or doing something else while watching it in the background. i went to a yankee game in 2007 back when i was still drinking, and after being awake for a full day straight after exercising at the gym and sneaking a bottle of hennessy into the stadium, i was falling asleep in between pitches and wastedly screaming "COME OOOOOOONNNNN" at the pitchers.

in football, i'm a jets fan, so it's basically a mental form of self mutilation every single winter.

i was thinking the same thing about ovechkin. it's as if he thinks the players he pulled the dirty hits on are not as important or valuable as he is, so it doesn't matter. i like to pick on crosby, i always make the joke that if i met him, i'd want to shake his hand but probably wouldn't because i don't want to get a penalty!!!

haha! admittedly there is a lot of jacking involved, at least on a superficial level. but there really is an art to it all. anyone can just take some old song that gets play on every pop station, interpolate the hook, and make an stupid ass song about the same old shit, but that ain't generally what i do. that's just the 'hit single' formula, and the way that puffy helped to destroy mainstream hip-hop in the mid 90s. it's about how you flip it, EQ it so it sounds right, what you write to it, and there is also an infinite number of sound/instrument layers, drum breaks, and effects that you can add to a sample to modify it. most of the time i'm a minimalist, i prefer to maintain and enrich the musical integrity of samples and stray from the sound effects and hihats in the drums.

basically i deal with a lot of old, foreign, and obscure music, to really expand the horizons, and i've extensively listened to nearly every genre of music in the world. there are many hits and many misses, and it's fun to discover new bands and artists. i enjoy taking one thing and turning it into something entirely different that is also awesome. another thing i like doing is taking samples from completely different sounding styles of music and having them lead into each other fluidly.

i don't have much music released but i'm sitting on a gigantic archive of beats at this point, something like 800-1000 probably. working hard on the preceding mixtape and album, which as said earlier will be my fascist manifesto in the form of hip-hop.

how's the sound quality of your boy's egg crate booth? i need to get some sort of home recording apparatus going but i refuse to half ass in any way and would rather wait till i get in a professional studio with a real engineer. i got these people who always offer me some sort of barter beats for studio time deal, but we just never get up and talk it out.

music is much different from writing. but just like with words, there are fairly standard guidelines defining what is acceptable and which is not. when samples are cleared, that means it's ok, (though i still flipped a shit everytime kid rock came on when i mistakenly thought it was warren zevon). you won't have that issue with me unless you're well versed in such genres as folk music from kyrgyzstan, indonesian angklung & gamelan, 1960s underground soul, foreign television show theme songs from 1975, and many other such works. i have a lot of stuff that nobody's ever gonna come across in their lifetime, except from me. and if i straight jack, i won't say i produced it, but arranged it, because i will never claim to have "made" a beat from scratch unless i actually did. i have a fair amount of those too, but sampling is more fun, there is more versatility, and for a creative mind, it presents more options through limitations.

you should look into the reggae culture operates too. very often you'll find a wide variety of artists using the same exact beat, or riddim as they call it over and over to make a shitload of different songs. r&b/pop jocked this trend a few years back, with the nina sky song, the pitbull song 'culo', and countless others that no one in the US likely ever heard because they didnt play em on MTV or the radio.

that all having being said, i will sample anything i want, use it as i see fit, and if someone tries to sue me or complain, they'll get nothing other than a diss track at the most. pennies fine, but only because i roll them down the street for entertainment anyway. the cheapest form of entertainment at that!!!!

I mean, it's solid enough. He's a beginner, and like you, he mixes a ton, and is wanting a video for local tv for his big record, lol. I made one of his boys a while back, with UFOs and naked chics and shit, shaking their asses and tits while batting down martians trying to shoot them down while they are giant and walking through cities like two hot Shezillas....but this dude....

Well that sounds cool, and good luck. His sound quality is average, but you think, if the music is good, and you want to get noticed, that's one thing. But I guess you, wanting to be a producer and all, you want to put out top notch shit, eh? Are you on your way to GETTING a studio?

that sounds like a funny ass video. all on a green screen? it sounds pretty intense man.

thanks for the well wishing, and yeah i'm really anal about recording and engineering the vocals on anything less than perfect quality, to my own detriment for sure. personally i find mastering and engineering vocals to be really annoying and stressful and prefer someone else experienced who can focus on that and just that would do it for me, rather than myself, so i can just rhyme and be worry free. i don't really need a studio to produce instrumentals though. a PC with surround sound speakers, enough RAM and disk space, and the right software is all it takes to get the job done. i've used cool edit since junior high so it's like second nature. reason, not so simple but incredible. recording on the other hand...i've been very hesitant to rhyme on subpar equipment. i made one song that way, and it pissed me off because i know a real engineer with a good mic and acoustics could have made the song way better than it is. and i've actually taken a break from actively producing for now, which i can afford to do with the archive and all, and right now i'm working on the writing stage for my mixtape. i'll be back in it soon enough and there's only one way to go but up!

lol, thanks! somewhere on some dude from staten island's cell phone, there's a video of me drunk from 3 years ago throwing up olde E foam into a brown paper bag in the backseat of a rapper's BMW. the commentary consisted of my boy saying "awwwwww shit!!! battery jackson's leaking acid!!!!!"

in football, i'm a jets fan,
It's gotta be the cowboys all the way, battery. Haha. I LOVE football. And I used to go to hockey games all the time when I was in high school. But I can't watch any sport on tv other than football or cheerleading (I'm silly, I know).

But I have to say....the cowboys are the best. Lol.

lol i cant agree about the cowboys!!!! but i don't hate them like a lot of people around here do. i'm a hockey fanatic though. i watch all 82 games every season and get very upset if i miss even a second! i remember telling my ex-girlfriend "but there's only 82 games, plus playoffs". her reaction was a little something like this: [ame="http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6688343676151410482"]Jim Mora PLAYOFFS!?[/ame]

LOL. I wasn't that much of a hockey fan. I only went to the Portland Winterhawk games. That's sad that you don't agree on the Cowboys. I'm glad that I met somebody that doesn't hate them! I love them. Always have. I grew to like watching sports when I did cheerleading, so they don't bother me when guys watch.
