Acting on a prophecy that his son was a wizard, a 32-year-old man in Benin, Mr.
John Effiong, allegedly poisoned his two-year-old child.
Vanguard gathered that the child, simply identified as
Comfort Effiong, was allegedly
fed by his parents with a plate of poisoned rice.
It was further gathered that Mr. Effiong, who collaborated with his wife to carry out the dastardly act, was said to be
reacting to a prophecy that the child was a wizard who was attempting to harm his pregnant mother.
However, their evil act was discovered at a police check point along Benin-Abraka road when the police arrested the father and two others who were carrying the corpse of the child in a Ghana-must-go bag.
Others arrested by the police for complicity in the murder are John Okoh, 43, and Pastor Aniekan Achio-bong.
Meanwhile, the
Edo State Police Command has declared wanted the prophet who, allegedly, gave the couple the prophecy, Prophet Ini Monday, of the Caretaker Light of God Church.
