Shanika Claritt-another mother of the year- baby, loaded gun and crack

TAMPA - On top of the pillow, Hillsborough County deputies found a crying 5-month-old.

Beneath the pillow, deputies found a loaded Smith & Wesson .40-caliber gun.

Deputies arrested the child's mother, 19-year-old Shanika Claritt, on Wednesday afternoon at her Seffner home. They also arrested Delores Franklin, 57, who they say was taking care of the child.

Shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday, deputies used a search warrant at the home.

They found a clear baggie with crack in the kitchen, marijuana in the living room and "a large amount of crack cocaine" in a desk, an arrest report states. The Department of Children & Families took the child.

Charges against Claritt and Franklin include child neglect, possession of crack cocaine within 1,000 feet of a church and possession of marijuana.

Claritt and Franklin remained in jail this morning. Claritt's bail is set at $31,000, Franklin's at $23,500.

This is a made up story. There is no way, absolutely NO WAY, that this happened to a woman named Shanika.

Yes it's a separate crime.
Down here, the powers that be just toss the whole "separation of church and State" issue out the window with the crack babies and red tide bath water.

I think church, school and parks all get lumped together because they are gathering places for large numbers of children. And as you know they do not want folks doing or dealing drugs where lots of children gather.
