Ezell Harris does not actually have the word "hypocrite" across his forehead.
ORLANDO, Fla. -- An Orlando City Council candidate whose platform includes fighting prescription drug abuse was charged with trafficking in the powerful prescription narcotic hydrocodone.
Records show Ezell Harris, 50, was arrested Thursday night on the trafficking charge, as well as charges of dispensing medicinal drugs without a license, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful use of a two-way communication device.http://www.wesh.com/news/21604398/detail.html#Harris is being held in Orange County Jail pending an initial court appearance later Friday.
Harris is running for the District 5 seat now held by Daisy Lynum.
On his Web site, Harris describes himself as a community activist and self-employed travel agent.
On his campaign platform, Harris posts this note: "Prescription drugs have replaced cocaine and other illicit substances as the leading cause of drug abuse deaths in Florida, a new study says. Despite this, the state has no prescription drug monitoring program, and the authors of the study say Florida must do more to curb the abuse of legal medication ... The report makes it clear that lax oversight is allowing Florida’s legal drug abuse problem to grow out of control.
