Hennepin County prosecutors have charged a 15-year-old Minneapolis boy in the police-chase crashed that killed a Minneapolis mother Sunday.

Prosecutors charged the youth on Tuesday with fleeing a police officer, criminal vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident.

A news release says the Hennepin County Attorney's Office is trying to certify the boy as an adult, which would make him eligible for stiffer penalties if convicted.

Hanna Abukar, 26, of was killed and two children were seriously injured after a violent car collision at Lake Street and Stevens Avenue Sunday morning.

Minneapolis Police say the crash was just 6-tenths of a mile from where they had just called of a pursuit involving a stolen vehicle driven by a 15 year old boy. Investigators say the boy was traveling at a high rate of speed down Lake Street after the pursuit was called off. They say he collided with Abukar's car as she was heading South on Stevens.
