Ydesha Lopez and 6 kids live among bugs

NEWPORT NEWS, VA. -- "I saw colonies of bugs. They were crawling on the wall and along the bathroom sink that was covered in mold."

That's what Newport News Officer Brandon Maynard found when he went into the apartment of Ydesha Lopez who lives in the apartment with her three children, two nieces and a nephew.
Maynard was responding to two complaints of unattended children Friday when he was at the Woodbridge Point Apartments on an unrelated matter.

When he entered the apartment he found, "Unlivable conditions...as soon as you open the door. The feces smell hits you in the face. Clothes everywhere, bugs everywhere, trash and food scattered on the ground, dried grease on the stove, sink filled with water, mold."

This wasn't the first complaint on Lopes, Christian Cruz is a courtesy officer at the apartment complex and says, "She's had several citations from us to clean up the back porch. A lot of clothes out here. We told her 'the porch isn't your closet.'"

Maynard arrested Lopez Friday after she claimed she was working too hard to clean up her apartment.

How on earth can ANYONE stand to live with the smell of shit pervading everything in their home? I have had my grandson over for 2 nights now and I have taken out the trash no less than 4 times.

My cousin's mother passed away a few years ago and when they went to her house, which people must have never done, they found her trash for the past few years still in her house. It was bagged up and stacked on top of itself. There were piles of newspapers to the ceiling. There were boxes of knicknacks and mounds of clothing. You had to navigate around the house in these narrow aisles, one of which had collapsed above to form an archway of refuse that the cleaning crew had to duck under.

They started taking everything out to the open carport where dump trucks (construction containers) were brought in for several loads. She was a recluse, and didn't mind the indoor construction as much as the idea of taking out the fucking trash.

One can only imagine the smell and creatures living with her.

My grandparents bought a unit for investment purposes years ago. Their first tenant proved to be a nightmare, and after a herculean struggle to get her evicted, she finally left of her own accord in the middle of the night, leaving just about everything behind. I was interstate, so my brother was the only young person around to help our mum and aunties to clean out the unit. He reported to me later that the entire unit was filthy, ankle deep in dirty nappies, empty takeaway, plastic bottles, cans, cigarette packets etc. That was bad enough, but worse was to come. After working their way through the entrance and the lounge rooms (with face masks and much dry retching lol), they came to a door and opened it, to find a room absolutely full to the ceiling with rotting garbage bags. Apparently the couple who'd lived there (with children obviously) had never taken their garbage out to be collected, it had all just been thrown into the room and left there. Unfuckingbelievable, that people can live amongst that, can CHOOSE to live amongst it.

The clean up and repair bill was enormous.

    Yuck.

Holy shit, only miles from this disgusting bitch.

The offenses relate to three of Lopez's children, girls ages 7 and 11, and a 10-year-old boy, and three children she was looking after for her sister who was in Oklahoma: a 12-year-old boy, a 10-year-old girl and an 8-year-old girl.

Left alone in shit. How could the neighbors not smell it? Ughh?
