A 22-year-old father was being held Monday in the McLennan County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bond on charges of injuring his 3-month-old daughter.
The child suffered a skull fracture and a subdural hemorrhage at different times in September, according to arrest warrant affidavits.
Her father, John Stephen Davis, was charged Thursday with two counts of injury to a child.
John Davis is charged with injuring his 3-month-old daughter, who had a skull fracture.
Waco police say officers were called at 11 p.m. Sept. 21 to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center’s emergency room, where doctors were treating the infant with “suspicious injuries.”
She was taken by medical helicopter to Scott and White Hospital in Temple for treatment. Dr. David Hardy, the pediatric forensic medical consultant at Scott and White, said the fracture on the right side of the child’s head and the hemorrhaging were at different stages of healing, the affidavit reads.
The victim’s mother told Hardy that Davis had put the child to bed, but when she checked on the baby, she was limp and barely breathing.
The child’s condition was unavailable Monday.
