I think kids have more than enough homework and material being covered in elementary school. Teach it as an elective in HS or not at all.

If it is only taught as a historical or just plain boring facts standpoint im okay with it. Until highschool atleast. Then having a religion course kind of like a world civ or world culture course is okay with me. Im not one of those parents that is all uppity about what relgions my children are exposed to. But if your going to teach one teach them all and not the theology part so much. Just facts.
Silence is golden. Duct tape is silver.

...and ironically they don't have enough homework in high school. While in high school I had religion courses...but they were not compulsory by any means. This is the problem - they need to be forced or kids won't take them. Even in my Western history courses one professor had to stop his lecture and explain the various denominations within Christianity because the students were confused about religion within the House of Bourbon. Is that necessary?
Then, the problem with religious studies in university you get the nutjob fundamentalists that annoy you to no end; and wish to share their 'unique experiences' in their works for a 'personal approach'. I think I've already shared my 'rosary' story here before in chat...not wise to admit yourself irreligious, because the class will pray for you.

Yet know, my master, God omnipotent,
Is mustering in his clouds on our behalf
Armies of pestilence; and they shall strike
Your children yet unborn and unbegot,
That lift your vassal hands against my head
And threat the glory of my precious crown.

Where is this House of Bourbon? I hope it's not as far as the Trailer of Whiskey. I need a drink.
