http://www.gainesville.com/article/2...n-by-roadside#A Gainesville woman was charged with neglect of a child Monday when she allegedly left her three-year-old son by the side of NE 23rd Avenue while she went to her mother's home 200 to 300 feet away, according to an arrest report.
Charged was Katrice Tianna Garvin, 22, of 3501 NE 15th St. Apt. V173.
The incident happened about 10:30 a.m. at the corner of NE 14th Street and 23rd Avenue. The arrest report states that witnesses saw the toddler crying and and about to walk into the crosswalk.
Driver Edward Glenn Batton slammed on his brakes, stopped and picked the child up. He told police that three to four minutes passed before he saw Garvin. Several other witnesses stopped as well.
According to the report, Garvin told police she and her son had been walking from her apartment complex when the child began to get tired and sat on the side of the road. Garvin went to her mother's house to get some keys and did not want to carry her son the rest of the way because she was also tired, the arrest report stated.
Looks like she might be out on bail. This article from August 2009 also features her:
