Katreice Trujillo shares her meth with her baby

DENVER -- A 27-year-old mother was arrested Wednesday, accused of giving methamphetamine to her 3-month-old baby, Denver police said.


The infant was brought to Children's Hospital last Friday suffering from seizures. Doctors called police after they determined that the baby had ingested meth.


The child's mother, Katreice Trujillo, was arrested on allegations of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury.

Trujillo has had a run-in with the law before. She has a lengthy criminal history with arrests in Denver, Lakewood, Brighton, Thornton and Northglenn for harassment, assault and driving with a suspended license.

Denver Police Spokesperson Sonny Jackson said officers did not find a meth lab in the suspects home.


"This is not a situation where the child accidentally was crawling on the floor while they were cooking meth. This was the kind of situation where truly the child did ingest the drug,” Jackson said.

It would be my guess that as Morbid pointed out, that she could be breast feeding and didn't realize that Meth can be transfered to this baby by her actions. Most mothers know this, but then you have a few that don't by the many babies that are taken to the ER because something is wrong with them only to find out that their babies are either so high on a drug or going through withdraw from whatever drug the mother was taking because they have an addiction to that drug.

I don't know if she was breastfeeding either, but was bringing out a way that most babies that are brought into the ER have drugs in their systems. If someone reads this thread, just maybe they will learn something here and not do the drug when they breast feed or just don't breastfeed at all.

I allways keep my meth in the sugar jar. It helps avoid getting it confused with the baby formula. I tried the coffee pot but the grounds clogged my neddles.

I know that they make Meth to look and taste like candy and that is a problem here, but making it to look like infant formula is hard to believe. I would have to say she did it on purpose to see what it would do to her baby or thought the baby was going through withdrawal by crying and this was the only way she thought it would shut up. Looks like she will now have to suffer withdrawal from her beloved drug of choice.
