LEE COUNTY: A Naples elementary school teacher was arrested on Thursday after deputies say she stalked her ex-husband's new wife and sent her threatening text messages.
Haley Ann Marotto, 39, is in the Lee County Jail charged with misdemeanor stalking.
On Thursday deputies say Marotto, a teacher at Palmetto Elementary School, followed her ex-husbands new wife, Kara Marotto, after she dropped off her son at Heights Elementary School.
"Kara said that she noticed Haley at the school standing outside of her car in the parking lot when she pulled in," the report said.
Kara, 35, told deputies she took her son to his classroom and when she returned to her truck, Haley was parked next to her in the parking lot.
Deputies say Kara got into her truck and drove away, but when she stopped at a traffic light, Haley pulled up beside her.
"Kara rolled down her window and asked her what she needed and Haley said that she was just making a phone call," the report said. "Once the light turned green Kara pulled out onto Gladiolus Dr. and Haley followed."
For the next several minutes Kara said Haley followed her back into the Heights Elementary parking lot and through the 7-Eleven parking lot at Pine Ridge Road and McGregor Boulevard, according to the report.
Kara pulled into a nearby sheriff's substation for help and told a deputy she was scared because Haley had recently sent her threatening text messages.
That's when the deputy noticed Haley's car pull into the parking lot.
"The vehicle continued to drive forward after Kara stopped, then turned around in the parking lot and attempted to exit," the report said.
A deputy stopped Haley from leaving the lot and questioned her about the incident.
Deputies say she offered no reason for pulling into the sheriff's office parking lot and trying to leave.
Haley was arrested and taken to the Lee County Jail.
