Winston-Salem, NC -- Police arrested a man who punched and kicked another man he suspected of breaking into his home.
Donald Carter, a teacher's assistant at Atkins High School, called police Tuesday night saying he was holding two men who he believed broke into his Winston-Salem home several days earlier.
Investigators say that Carter confronted one of the men at a home on Shalimar Drive and punched and kicked him. They say he then forced the man to drive to another home where he confronted a second man he suspected in the break-in.
Police arrested Carter and charged him with Felonious Restraint and Assault. He was released on a written promise to appear in court. The home break-in is still under investigation.
Theo Helm, spokesman for the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County schools, said district leaders will meet with Carter this afternoon to determine possible disciplinary actions. Carter is also an assistant coach with the Atkins High School football team.
