MANATEE COUNTY - A 25-year-old woman was arrested on Saturday and charged with child neglect after her 7-year-old son called 911 and told police that he, his brother and sister were left abandoned in their home, according to a Bradenton Police Department report.

According to the police report, the children’s mother told her oldest child she was going to the mall and left the three children — ages 7, 4 and 1 — home alone.

An officer who arrived at her house said he saw a steak knife and a bottle of Oxycodone prescription pills on a night stand all within reach of the children. The older boy told police that they are left alone a couple of times a week.

Police eventually located the mother after about two hours and said she was at a local night club. She told police that she is a single mother and got confused.

Rashondra Latrice Waiters was arrested at her home on the 1600 block of 21st Street East at 10 p.m., the report said.

Damn, poor children. Older child is already mini-mommie at 7 yrs. old. 1 yo, still needs lots of care, lots. I'm stunned really something awful didn't happen while they were alone on one of those occasions.

Which I could hug these little ones tell them that the woman they know as mom is confused....she's no mom, not a mom at all.

My god people everyone makes stupid choices. repeatedly. hopefully she has some good qualities that will prevail and the kids will thrive. shit i have made so many ridiculous selfish choices through the years. ugh. i bet her mom did the same damn thing damn cycle

She's very fortunate that her stupid choice wasn't deadly. Leaving three children at home, the oldest seven is not a mistake or an oversight, it's a sign that she shouldn't have kids in her care, period.

As to whether her mother did the same thing, who knows. I do know that this woman is an adult, and she has the ability to choose to continue down a dysfunctional path or break the cycle (if indeed she was raised this way). Plenty of posters here can speak to that~ they chose not to be the parents their parents were.

Stupid choice, you got that right and sadly enough its not like she did it out of desperation once, but on many other occasions, nonetheless leaving dangerous items within reach of these children. So I say, she's an idiot, stupid, selfish bitch. Oh, and I forgot, one who is easily confused too. I see, that's the ticket. Must be all that hoeing and druggn' getting to her brain and given her the brainfarts!
