Surveillance cameras caught the man cops say is Francisco Marejo of Jersey City robbing the TD Banknorth on Bergenline Avenue in West New York last week.Cruz said she overheard Marejo's phone conversation on Wednesday and contacted police, who showed her an image of the bank robber taken by bank a security camera.

Marejo, she said, was wearing one of her hats in the photo. The hat obscured a portion of his face but she could see the lower potion and his hands, which have distinctive white spots on them due to a skin condition, Cruz said.

She told police it was Marejo, she said.

Marejo said he was at a friend's barbershop at the time of the crime but Cruz checked with the friend this afternoon and he said he was reviewing security video but did not see Marejo, she said.

West New York police would not say how much money the bank robber got away with.

Marejo has a prior conviction for drug possession with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school and he served three years probation for the offense, court officials said.
