A 71-year-old man was arrested by Alamance County Deputies after allegedly searching for someone to kill his ex-wife and her sister.
According to police, Walter Dickens solicited someone to murder his ex-wife, Audrey Dickens, and her sister, Nola Morrison. He was also looking to hire someone to burn down their homes in Elon.
"This was imminent, as far as we can tell from the investigation," said Randy Jones.
Dickens faces two counts of soliciting 1st-degree murder and two counts of soliciting arson.
Police did not say how or when the alleged murders were to be carried out. An undercover investigation from Aug. 20 to Aug. 24th led to Dickens' arrest just before 4 p.m. on Tuesday at this home on Burch Bridge Road.
Police said Dickens was convicted of the same crime 20 years ago in Alamance County and served time for soliciting murder.
Dickens is being held in the Alamance County Jail on $300,000 bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.
