Police find seven children alone in house

SOUTH BEND — Police say they found seven children, ranging in age from 1 to 11, left alone in a house Sunday night.

Police were called to the home in the 1100 block of East Calvert Street about 10:30 p.m. after a neighbor went to the home because she said she heard crying. The neighbor told police no adults were present and the kids were running all over the home.

Police arrived and talked to the children, with one reporting that a teenage baby-sitter, possibly 15-years-old, had been watching the family but had left.

Police tried to contact the 29-year-old mother, but could only reach two men, fathers of four of the children. Four children were placed in their fathers’ custody and the remaining three were placed in the custody of Child Protective Services.

Police reported being at the home for several hours, but that the children’s mother did not arrive while they were there.

Holy shit. That is a lot of babies and their daddies. Mommy must not have been super smart, leaving her seven fucking kids with a 15 year old. Good thing none of them was seriously injured or worse.

I have always thought that bad parents should have a warning label branded into their forehead. Now I am going to include babysitters and childcare workers.

I am thankful the good neighbor was not a serial killer or rapist.

I would have left too if I were the 15 year old babysitter!!

Geez...the sitter could have at least called someone to say she was leaving...and 7 kids is WAY too many for 1 15 yr old to take care of.....wonder if there was a babysitter...or if mommy left them all with the 11 yr old????? Who knows.

If I had been the 15 year old parents, it would not have happened, cause my kid wouldn't be there with 7 kids by themselves.

In the 70s, I was a latchkey kid from the time i was 6 or 7. I would never been given the care of anyone younger than me, though, even though the 70s were a different era.

she was making babies number 8 and 9 (having twins this time lol)

I don't know I just was following up on it and nothing yet. It's been a rough week for Indiana

Maybe it wasnt this week lol but in recent history - this, the guy with 7 kids by his sister (Medsker), the 14 month old that was killed as he was being pushed in his stroller (Bohannon), a 4 year old drowned in a pool in Monroe county this week, the 61 year old guy (Askern) who molested the 3 year old, Pacheco and Arrowood who beat up each other's kids to get back at each other.... I'm sure there's more it's just like wow

Don't you say that! You're free!! Run far far from Delaware and never ever look back!! I live in a "nice neighborhood" in Killmington, but I'm still surrounded by home invasions, murders, real drug crime, and on and on and on! This weekend alone, I had my back windshield smashed out and my identity stolen and more than $500 taken from my bank account fraudulently. AND I KEEP TO MYSELF!! I'm pretty sure that the kids who broke my window are the same who I have been losing work going to court for from when they broke into my car last month and my bf caught them. The same week the douche stole the baby's purse, there were two murders within a few blocks of where she was robbed... and within a few blocks of my home. All the good people need to abandon ship and then some serious clean up needs to happen here... start over from scratch. It's a cesspool that just needs to merge with Philly and get it over with. Ugh!!! IMO and stuff.
