John Kuchler earns his firemaking badge after stabbing his longtime friend to death.

John "wtf is that on my head" Kuchler, 42, was arrested for stabbing the 81 year old disabled man he lived with for 20 years, and then setting fire to the man's house.

friends of the deceased describe Kuchler as sort of a "servant" to J.L. "Jack" Pierson, 81, longtime boyscout leader and avid political salon host. "He'd serve us coffee, answer the door, he'd scurry around and then disappear," Robert Reinhold recalls. "I thought the guy was strange, that's all. He didn't seem in any way unpleasant to Jack and would function, in some ways, like a servant."

Kuchler allegedly killed Pierson sometime Tuesday night/Wed morning, Aug 11/12, 2009. Then he took off in the dead guy's 2002 Town & Country van and hightailed it to Oklahoma.

if you scroll through the comments section of the article, you will find lots of comments asking the expected boyscout/grown servantman/whats up with his hair questions. you will also find some interesting observations about both men from people who knew them.

so their relationship could be one where an older mentor took in a troubled younger man and they both enjoyed each other's company and the relationship helped them both. or it could have been more. i am not ready to jump to pedophilia from either of the above scenarios, like some of the commenters are doing. i dont see how that follows.

but i love his hair and am proud to share.

Maybe he was just the son he never had and he felt sorry for him so took him in and the years just passed. I'm sure more will come out as the case moves toward trial.

yeah msmisunderstood, that was my take on it as well. there has been tons of conjecture and innuendo flyin around.

and the wording of the whole article seems weird to me - "servant" is not a word you hear much. it seems to imply a lesser standing, something someone is subjected to, unlike home healthworker or something. which could also describe dude's responsibilities as it is described in the article.

it will be interesting to follow this trial.
