Melissa Lee Dale charged with child neglect after newborn tests positive for coke

I gotta say she doesn't look to bad for a recently pregnant cokehead. She is a selfish twat thugh.

A Timmonsville woman was arrested Friday after cocaine was found in her newborn baby’s body, Florence County Sheriff’s Capt. Mike Nunn said.

Melissa Lee Dale, 29, of 2330 Southern Aire Road, is charged with unlawful neglect of a child by a legal custodian, Florence County Detention Center booking reports show.

The warrant alleges the suspect placed her unborn child at unreasonable risk of harm affecting the child’s life, physical or mental health or safety by using illegal drugs while pregnant. The infant tested positive for cocaine at birth, Nunn said.

Under state law, the charge is felony punishable by a fine at the discretion of the court, by imprisonment for not more than 10 years or both, Nunn said.

Dale remains in custody at the jail in Effingham awaiting a bond hearing.

Anyone know if they test all babies for drugs? While my doctor knows I am on Hydrocodone with this pregnancy I keep worrying that the hospital will flip out about it if this baby has to go through withdrawl (I honestly have cut back on the prescription dosage and keep trying to not take it till I can't stand the pain anymore).

It depends on what county/city you are in I believe. There may be some states that test them all. I bet you could do a search to figure out, but there'd be no reason to if you were prescribed drugs by a doctor and took them as prescribed. I only know this because I wondered how my sister in law left the hospital with hers. I thought it was standard. I did find that they can test any child when they believe there may be an issue. But again, if you are prescribed the meds, there is no reason to worry.

Thanks Booby, I get all paranoid about things now. Especially as I hear about ppl getting in trouble for driving while on Vicodine (which I do often)... Before I found out I was pregnant I was taking so much just to cope with working and the pain... now that I am not working I was able to cut back so much but still 3 times a day or so I have to take it in order to function.

If you don't mind me asking, what are you taking it for?
