Donald McNair and Pamela Henderson don't keep track of their special needs 4-year old

ELIZABETHTON — The discovery of a 4-year-old boy walking alone and nude in a remote location on U.S. Highway 321 at 8:30 p.m. Saturday has led to the arrest of the boy’s parents.

Pamela Henderson, 34, and Donald Lee McNair II, 35, both of 4449 Highway 321, Butler, were each charged with child neglect under the age of 6 years old.

The child had been found by a truck driver, who said the boy was standing in the middle of the highway in a remote location near Mallard Cove Marina.
The truck driver turned the boy over to Constable BobbyTrivette. At the time, the only clothing the boy was wearing was pair of adult-size 11 clog shoes. He was covered in mud and could not talk.

Carter County Deputy Harmon Duncan responded at 8:38 p.m. and took custody of the boy from Trivette. He placed the boy in his cruiser and transported him to a safer location.

When he stopped, he was approached by a motorist who said she was the special needs teacher at Hampton Elementary School. She said she recognized the child, but could not remember his name or the names of his parents.

Duncan then transported the child to the Carter County Sheriff’s Department. At 9:30 p.m. a relative, John McNair called 911 to report a missing child. He identified himself as the brother of Donald McNair, who is the father of the boy.

Duncan called Constable Trivette, who went to the McNair residence. There, he spoke with a 13-year-old girl. The girl told Trivette her mother, Henderson, had been gone for several hours and she did not know where her mother was or when she would return. The girl said her mother had left her in charge of her 4-year-old brother and her 2-yearold sibling.

Henderson came to the sheriff’s department later in the evening with Constable Trivette. She said she had left the children with their 13-year-old sister for several hours. Duncan said Henderson told him the boy is autistic and is prone to run away if not watched constantly.

Duncan reported that Henderson has five children ranging in age from 2 to 13 and is currently pregnant with twins. Two of the children, aged 3 and 5, were left with another relative.

Henderson and McNair are scheduled to answer the charges in Sessions Court on Aug. 25.

    Good Lord, she's fertile.

A 13 year old is probably not capable of taking care of an autistic boy who's also an escape artist. I don't know I could.

I hope this ends with him being placed somewhere that will take care of him better than this mother. I don't balme the 13 yr old at all, she's still a child herself.

My 4 year old is a healthy active boy, and I would never leave him home alone with my 13 year old. Not that she would harm him, but she really can not see all the dangers that he can get into.

One time, I was in the home, and my 4 year old walked into the kitchen, took a butter knife and tried to cut his neck. Luckily, I had just walked into the kitchen and found him. But the point is you should never leave a toddler, especially a special needs toddler alone with another CHILD.

    McNair goes back to jail
    in child neglect case

A man charged twice in the past year with child neglect was ordered back to jail on Friday in Carter County Criminal Court.

Donald Lee McNair II, 36, 4449 Highway 321, Butler, appeared in front of Circuit Court Judge Lynn Brown and defended himself about his latest arrest, when a sheriff's deputy charged him with three counts of felony child endangerment on June 6.

McNair was arrested by Carter County Sheriff's Department Lt. Thomas Smith and a U.S. Forest Service officer who stated that the defendant was intoxicated and endangering his three small children. McNair and the three children were camping at Miller Fields in Butler. McNair told officers that the mother of the children, Pamela Henderson, was visiting Dollywood.
When the officers checked the residence, they found Henderson, who told them that she did not know McNair was intoxicated.
McNair told Brown he was not intoxicated and his children were asleep at the campsite. The new charges are currently in General Sessions Court, where McNair also appeared on Friday.

In spite of his defense, Judge Brown revoked McNair's previous bond and sent him back to jail on a new bond set at $50,000. McNair was scheduled to appear in Criminal Court on two counts of child abuse and neglect of a child under six from an incident which allegedly occurred on Aug. 7, 2009. McNair was arrested with Henderson after a four-year-old child was found wandering on Highway 321 near Mallard Cove Marina, wearing nothing but a pair of croc shoes.
In the August incident, officers traced the child to 4449 Highway 321, where the boy's 13-year-old sister was placed in charge of baby-sitting him and two other children. Henderson was gone for several hours, deputies reported.

Both parents were arrested and the case was eventually transferred to Criminal Court, where the two individuals are scheduled to appear again on Aug. 2.

McNair also appeared in Sessions Court on Friday on the three felony child endangerment charges. Judge John Walton continued the case to July 2 at 1:30 p.m.
