Post Shahida Reed pulled over, 5 month old unrestrained, other kids had been left alone

Washoe County sheriff's deputies arrested a 21-year-old mother of three this morning on charges of child endangerment and being under the influence of drugs.

Shahida Reed remains in the Washoe County Jail in lieu of $23,200 bail.

Reed was pulled over Monday morning in the 4000 block of Sun Valley Blvd. and was uncooperative with officers, refusing to give them her correct identity, spokesperson Brooke Keast said. Traveling with her were five people and Reed's 5-month-old, who was unrestrained, Keast said. Deputies determined that Reed was under the influence of drugs and arrested her.

Upon her arrest, deputies said they also learned that Reed had left two of her children, a 5-year-old and a 3-year-old, unattended in a room in the 100 block of West 1st Avenue in Sun Valley.

Police went to Reed's room to check on the children, and discovered drug paraphernalia and several small bags of methamphetamine in a diaper bag next to the sleeping children, Keast said.

Child Protective Services took all three of Reed's children and placed them in foster care.

Reed was charged with four counts of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, three counts of child endangerment, being under the Influence of controlled substance, failure to appear and providing false identification to avoid arrest.

During the traffic stop, deputies also discovered that a passenger in the car, Robert Dale Gilmer, 26, of Reno, had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear, Keast said. Gilmer was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of possession of marijuana. His bail has been set at $1,954.

wow that is a rough looking chick!!! I don't know what's worse to not have the baby in a car seat or to leave the older two alone.
How do these people get out of this house without their kids freaking out? Or maybe they do and don't care. Or maybe the kids are semi-glad they're gone so at least no one's being mean to them.
I mean mine are 10 and 9 (in about 10 days) and they're just so damn nosey I can't get out the house with all 3 of them including the baby.

So glad these children were taken out of harms way now rather than later. We could have been reading about her 5 mo. being thrown from the car as it wrecked or the ones at home left for days, gotten to drugs....etc. She doesn't deserve them if she can't get her life cleaned up to make their lives free from the bullshit she lives for. She looks pissed too. What? they took your drug baggies away....pathetic.

These kids are probably used to being left alone, just another day for them. Hopefully they will be getting some attention now, the good kind of attention.
