A Marshall man was charged with one count of possesion of pornography involving juveniles Friday after illegal photos were found on his cell phone.
William Terrell Parker, 48, was taken into custody at a "truck stop/casino" near Shreveport, La., by Detective Robert Greer of the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office, Greer said late Friday after a search of Parker's residence.
Parker dropped his phone at the business, where employees discovered "about 50 images depicting child pornography," a CPSO press release states.
Employees notified authorities, who then called Parker to pick up the phone. Greer arrested Parker when he returned.
"He's not too bright," Greer said.
CPSO officials then contacted the Marshall Police Department to obtain a search warrant for Parker's residence in the 100 block of Stonecreek Drive.
Before entering the residence, Greer questioned a neighbor to ensure that Parker currently lived in the apartment.
"Digital evidence," including a computer tower, was removed during the search, Greer said. The detective was assisted by MPD Sgt. Kyle Ready and Officer Scott Smith in the search.
Greer said additional charges could be pending with the Marshall Police Department.
Parker was booked into Caddo Correctional Center at 6:51 p.m. Friday. No bond had been set as of Saturday afternoon.
The Greenwood (La,) Police Department assisted CPSO in the arrest and investigation.
