Michelle Moore just got too busy to care for grandma

A Macon woman is charged with murdering her 92-year-old grandmother through starvation and neglect.

According to a Macon police news release, officers on Friday arrested 47-year-old Michelle Sheree Brooks Moore on a felony murder charge.

Police say her grandmother, Clara Sipp, died last year. On Sept. 3, 2008, an ambulance took her to the Coliseum Hospital.
    [...]

That night, according to a Macon police incident report, an officer said Sipp was covered with sores, including some that showed through to the bone.

A nurse told police that Sipp was dehydrated and starving and had the worst case of bed sores she'd ever seen, according to the incident report.

    Sipp died eight days later.

Moore told police that she had been trying to take care of her grandmother but had been busy, the report says.

Macon police Sgt. Melanie Hofmann said investigators this week received GBI autopsy results showing that Sipp died from neglect and malnourishment.

I hope they get busy at the jail.. too busy to take care of her. Maybe Big Bertha will volunteer to "help"?

They would have to starve her a long time. She has enough padding for at least year!

The only cases that are worse than child abuse are elderly abuse. And often times - I find elderly abuse tipping the scales. A child can't discern what is happening. An elderly person can. To be trapped in an old body with memories of how to escape such pain has to be such torture.

It is so sad that people do not have neither responsibiity nor respect for their elders. They have no caring and responsibility to properly raise their children. Do you folks realize Caylee would have been 4 years old tomorrow.

There are many cases of elder neglect thus making it abuse. Would a national health care system fix this or would our elderly still be subject to neglect and abuse by paid professional staff who are overworked, underpaid and resentful of their jobs in the first place.

I hope I die of a heart attack out of the blue and not have to face this but I doubt it.

I'm not overly optimistic on what my generation will face when they need help. Especially those without tight family members who are honorable.

I wonder why no one else in the family knew what was happening? Did no one in the world care about this woman? Very sad.

Just how busy would you have to be to allow an elderly woman to become dehydrated, starved and get bed sores down to the bone? She clearly wasn't too 'busy' to feed her own fat face, but she couldn't spare and extra few minutes each day to feed her granny? Or give her a drink? Or turn her over once in a while?

I hope she gets the same level of 'care' she afforded her gran when she is incapacitated and dependant on the kindness of others. And I hope she has her mental faculties intact so she can KNOW what is happening to her, and remember what she did.

Probably was spending granny's pension, disability, social security and whatever else grandma was getting. Can't save grandma, that costs money. Possibly the whole extended family was sharing it....God help me for saying that!!!

Don't even have to cash them anymore...just head to Wal-Mart with the old debit card. Just wait til the 1st or the 3rd and there it is...POOF!! Magic money. Probably the rest of them didn't want the problem of tending to grandma. They didn't care what was going on as long as they didn't have to extend any effort.

What makes me so angry about this story and the ones like it, is this woman raised kids and probably helped with the grand kids. Do you think she was "too busy" to change diapers and feed her babies? And this is how she was repaid. Just disgusting.

I am a geriatrics nurse and the elder abuse that goes on would shock you.I dont understand it.I look after my parents they are getting older and I am the only one that does out of everyone.I know it gets stressful, making sure meds are filled, making sure food is cooked and ready to go b/c they wont, they will eat yogurt, eggs, cereal. They are diabetic and I have to do sugar raids b/c they will eat sweets and hide them as if its heroin or crack!!So between work and raising my own parents I know the stress but I have never abused anyone at work or home and to me that and child abuse are the lowest on the totem pole.We have fired many from work for not turning patients b/c bed sore will show up as soon as a shift later.I have walked into work and checked a resident and found huge looking water blister (its a beginning of bed sore) and we fire for that b/c its preventative.Anyways I hope this stupid bitch gets tied to a bed and gets bed sores down to the bone and she will see the pain and suffering they go through. If people cant handle it then they should set up fopr anothetr relative or facility to do it.We have had people start at 7 am go for break at 9 and never come back!

As a second job I worked at a residential facility back in the day. I could not believe how many older folks were not visited by their families. It was heartbreaking.
