Police have arrested and charged a second and final suspect after a broad-daylight robbery and attack on an elderly woman.

On Wednesday morning, two women allegedly tried to steal a 92-year-old woman's purse in the parking lot of Southcentre Mall. When the purse couldn't be snatched easily, the suspects allegedly punched and kicked the woman.

On Friday afternoon, 39-year-old Kari-Lynn Klopp was arrested at her home in Black Diamond. Neighbours tell CTV News she has lived there for many years with her husband and two daughters.

Neighbour Richard Troews says she was known to have drug problems.

"I'm sad for her and for her kids and I hope she gets what she needs to resolve her problems."

Klopp was taken to the RCMP detachment in Turner Valley for questioning and then transported to the Calgary Police Service's Arrest Processing Unit Friday night.

Calgary Police aren't looking for anyone else in connection with the attack. Inspector Rob Williams says witnesses provided vital clues.

"We had a partial plate and exceptional crime analysts that helped us find the Ford Fiesta and that took us to Turner Valley."

That was where the first arrest took place.

On Thursday, 21-year-old Renee Lemire was arrested at her home in Turner Valley.

Neighbours who know Lemire say she recently went through drug rehabilitation and, until last week, was working at the Tim Hortons in Okotoks.

"I know her quite well, I've watched her grow up," said Gordon Day. "She's always been a nonaggressive person, so I don't know what's happening to her."

Police say the women had never met the elderly victim before the attack, and believe it was a crime of opportunity.

The victim was taken to hospital with head and hip injuries. She has undergone hip surgery and is doing well.

The victim's friend doesn't condone the attack, but says because of her own experiences in life, she believes people need to forgive to move on.

Rebecca Van Meeteren says she wants the women to receive the treatment they need to sort their lives out, but she's just relieved they've been arrested.

"Most of all, happy for the public. This way they can't attack somebody else. Next time they might kill someone if they fall the wrong way."

The victim continues to recover from hip surgery in hospital.

Both Klopp and Lemire are charged with one count of robbery.
