Sex offender Robert Shawn Burkhart molests 3 yr old, her mother tried to cover it up

A convicted sex offender has been charged with molesting a 3-year-old girl while staying with the girl’s mother, who authorities say tried to cover up the crime.

Robert Shawn Burkhart, 25, of White Oak Street, was charged late Thursday by the Onslow County Sheriff’s Department with two counts of sex offender use of a social Web site, nine counts of indecent liberties with a child, two counts of exhibiting harmful performances to minors, and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. His bond was set at $205,000.

The 23-year-old mother, of S. Queens Street in Hubert, was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, nine counts of exhibiting harmful performances to minors, and obstructing justice. Her bond was set at $10,000. The woman is not being identified to protect the child’s identity.

Authorities say Burkhart and the woman met on the social Web site FUBAR.com, and after dating for a month, she learned about Burkhart being a registered sex offender.
Burkhart stayed with the woman on Queens Street in Hubert numerous times and on several occasions Burkhart and the woman “performed sexual acts in the nude and in the presence and view of the 3-year old (girl).”

And to top it off..

During the investigation, the woman obstructed justice by warning Burkhart investigators were on the way to seize evidence in the case, authorities said.

I'm sorry, just get the out noose and be done with it for both of them. Sex offenders are evil enough but I will never understand how a mother (even though we've seen it countless times) will allow her daughter to be raped and be willing to cover it up. Evil, just plain evil.

Officials arrested Samantha Amber Shearin, 23, of Hubert, and Robert Shawn Burkhart, 25, of Jacksonville.

From October 1, 2008, until June 25, 2009, Burkhart and Shearin met on the social web site, FUBAR.com.
After one month of dating, Shearin learned that Burkhart was a registered sex offender in North Carolina.

As a registered sex offender, Burkhart, along Shearin, knowingly violated terms of his probation by creating and maintaining a personal web page on the commercial social networking website known as Face Book and My Space.

During the time Burkhart and Shearin dated each other, Burkhart was allowed to reside at her residence in Hubert, North Carolina.

On several occasions Burkhart was allowed overnight visitation by Shearin in which the 3-year old victim slept in the same bedroom. During these overnight visits, the defendants performed sexual acts in the nude and in the presence and view of the 3-year old victim.

During the time frame of October 1, 2008, to June 23, 2009, the 3-year old victim stated that during Burkhart's overnight visitations he had restrained and positioned her body exposing her nude buttocks to Burkhart's touch and indicated that he had "hurt her butt" referring to her vaginal and buttocks area.

*speechless* maybe i just used it all up this past week; usually i advocate just throwing them in jail until even their pubic hair turns grey...i like to think that child abusers/rapists suffer horribly in prison... but today i am fed up with these perverts. just get rid of them, permanently. they WILL re-offend, so take the chance away. i am so heartsick; poor, poor baby
