Detroit police said the barricaded gunman inside the River Towers Apartment on East Jefferson Avenue has been shot by authorities.

He was taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital.

Local 4 has learned a 78-year-old man, who was in the process of being evicted, was armed and made threats to other residents.

There are 15 floors in the apartment building. Police said the man was alone inside his eight-floor apartment.

There were negotiators on the scene.

No one was allowed in, or out, of the building.

Police closed Jefferson Avenue between Van Dkye and Seyburn streets during the incident.
