7-year-old steals the family car to avoid going to church

Maybe he also missed the day the sermon covered the Eighth Commandment: Thou shalt not steal.

A 7-year-old boy led officers on a car chase Sunday through Weber County in an attempt to avoid going to church, authorities say.

"Most kids fake illness," said Weber County Sheriff's Capt. Klint Anderson. "They don't take the car out and go joy riding."
    [...]

The boy drove through a parking lot, then went south on 4700 West before driving the family's white Dodge Intrepid into a driveway on the 5000 block of 1500 North. The driver reached 40 mph and ran stop signs along the way, Anderson said.

The boy reportedly entered the home through the garage and ran upstairs. When deputies questioned the child's father, he told them he had no idea his son had taken the car.

"They had to explain to him they had chased his car," Anderson said.

"The father confronted the kid, and the boy straight-up admitted he had driven it. When asked why he took the car, he said he didn't want to go to church."

The boy's father was told to make sure his car keys are kept where they are not accessible to children, and the child was lectured about the dangers of taking a vehicle out on the road, but authorities cannot do much else.

Police would not identify the family, as there would be no citations issued.

Anderson said the boy is too young to prosecute and that the boy's father won't be cited because he was unaware his son had taken his car.

For a 7-year-old, his driving wasn't too bad, Anderson said.

"He had a few near misses, but he didn't hit anything or crash."

First thing I would do is get a thick chain and put the keys on it and around my neck. Then it's squeeze the little bugger tight and never let him leave his room ever again.
7 year olds are so undersestimated IMO.

Many years ago there was a little boy on David Letterman. He decided he would take care of his family by letting his mother sleep in. He awakened and dressed his baby sister, but her in the car seat, packed a picnic lunch and was driving them to the park! The police saw the car going down the road but couldn't see a driver so they turned on their red lights. The 5 year old saw them and pulled over!! LMAO. Again, the police said he was a pretty good driver - but made the boy turn off the ignition, lock the car doors and they took the children home! The mother shit a load a bricks. The boy was adorable.

Did you see that kid run? Got out of the car, left the door open and ran like a professional criminal. Damn, dad better get that under control right now. LOL

I watched this video in the morning as I was getting ready for work. It was the funniest thing to see that kid straight bolt from the car and run. I almost cheered him on but my 4 year old was behind me so I piped down. But it was the funniest crap I have seen in a while.

It sounds very funny and sad at the same time, that a child was so desperate to NOT go to church that he would rather committ a felony????
    Question #1
What are they doing/teaching him at church?
    Question #2
    Now what?

Hell, I drank Milk of Magnesia when I was about 13 or 14 years old, so that I would not have to attend my grandfather's church. They are Pentecostals, and the darn service would last hours. Now I am a very hyper person, and can't sit still for too long, and it was made worse by the darn Milk of Magnesia. I sympathize with this child.
