Nicole Holloway wasn't amused on her birthday

Indiana --A Fish Lake man was slashed by his girlfriend after wishing her a happy birthday, LaPorte County police said.

Nicole Holloway, 24, was arrested on a felony battery charge.

About 4 a.m. Saturday, a very bloody Ed Willoughby told investigators he returned home from a bar and went up to the bedroom where Holloway was sleeping. He woke her up wishing her a happy birthday, police said.

Willoughby told investigators she got out of bed and yelled, "I'm tired of you waking me up," police said.

Holloway grabbed a filet knife and cut Willoughby twice on his left arm when he tried to fend her off, police said.

Holloway also was cut but could not explain how she received her injuries, police said.

The two both went to LaPorte Hospital where Willoughby required stitches.

Holloway's story did not reflect the evidence at the scene while the accounts that Willoughby gave seemed to match up, police said.

I'm going to throw in my guess as to what happened. It was Nicole's birthday, BF Willoughby was out bar hopping Saturday night. He most likely came home liquored up, without a birthday present, and woke her up to get some.

I'm going to throw in my guess as to what happened. It was Nicole's birthday, BF Willoughby was out bar hopping Saturday night. He most likely came home liquored up, without a birthday present, and woke her up to get some.

maybe she was the one drinking?? i know how i get when i've had a few and hubs tries to wake me up (he better do it with a sandwitch lol)...who keeps a filet knife by the bed????
don't get me wrong, i do believe that anyone who wakes you up to wish you a happy b-day should be stabbed (my b-day is sacred to me IT'S MY DAY DAMN-IT) they should have lavished you with gifts and food before you ever went to bed..maybe she was hungry?
