SAN JOSE --
Police are investigating a fatal shooting at a San Jose restaurant that took place late Tuesday night, a police spokesman said.

A man walked into a San Jose restaurant, calmly pulled out a gun and fired several fatal shots into a diner before fleeing, authorities said.

San Jose Police Officer Jermaine Thomas said another restaurant patron flagged down a patrol officer in the 2200 block of Storey Road around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday to report a shooting at Bun Rieu Number One.

"It appears the victim was targeted," Thomas told KTVU. "So many people were in the establishment at the time shows that he was targeted."

The Asian adult male was rushed to a local hospital with multiple gunshot wounds and later died. His identity had not been released.

Thomas said investigators stayed on the scene well into Wednesday morning interviewing eyewitnesses. A description of the shooter was not immediately available.
