Jimmie Wright didn't do right, blamed the nightstand for brain dead baby

A 2-year-old boy is brain dead and his mother’s fiance’ is under arrest, accused of assaulting the child Monday afternoon.

The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office says paramedics were called...at 1:05 p.m. for a report of a child who may have suffered a seizure in an apartment.

The boy’s mother’s fiance’ told detectives at the scene that he walked into his bedroom and caught the child going through some of his things. He claimed the child was startled, turned around and fell backwards, hitting his head on a nightstand.

Detectives say the fiance’ told them the child stopped breathing and was foaming at the mouth. He took the child to the living room to perform CPR, called the boy’s mother then called 911.

But, doctors examining the child told detectives that the injuries the boy sustained did not match up with the fiance’s story. A doctor used the following analogy:

"Had the child been riding unrestrained in the back seat of a vehicle that was involved in a head-on collision, causing the child to fly through the front windshield head first, he would have sustained a less serious injury that he had received."

The deputy investigating the incident learned that the same child had fallen out a second story window about 10 days earlier, but that accident wasn’t ever reported, says the sheriff’s office. However, detectives later learned the mother took the child to the hospital and told doctors he’d fallen off some playground equipment.

Detectives say the doctors determined the fall from the window could not have caused the same injury. They also found evidence of past abuse to the boy’s body.

The boy died Tuesday night at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma and Jimmie J. Wright III is scheduled to be charged Thursday in Kitsap County Superior Court.

BREMERTON, Wash. -- A man was arrested Monday in the assault of a two-year-old boy that resulted in a critical brain injury and subsequent death, the Kitsap County Sheriff's Department said.

Police said a man had been looking after five children, all under the age of 5, in an apartment in East Bremerton on Monday night. Medics responded the apartment after receiving a call from a man, later identified as the fiancé of the boy's mother, who reported that a child had possibly suffered a seizure.

The boy, who was unresponsive, was transported to Harrison Medical Center in critical condition with a severe head injury.

The man told police that the boy fell, hitting his head on a night stand. Doctors who examined the boy, who had since been transferred to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital, told detectives that the boy's injuries could not have been received by falling on a night stand.

"Had the child been riding unrestrained in the back seat of a vehicle that was involved in a head-on collision, causing the child to fly through the front windshield head-first, he would have sustained a less serious injury that he had received," a doctor told police.

The boy died Tuesday night at 10:18 p.m. at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma.

After further questioning Monday night, sheriff's detectives arrested the man and booked him into jail on charges of suspicion of first-degree assault of a child. The Kitsap County Prosecutor's Office will determine if the man will face additional or amended charges regarding the death of the child.

The man is scheduled to appear in Kitsap County Superior Court at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Kitsap County Sheriff's deputies and Child Protective Services case workers took the four remaining children into protective custody. The children have been placed into temporary foster homes.

BREMERTON, Wash. -- A 2-year-old boy who was allegedly beaten by by his mother's fiancé died late Tuesday at a hospital.

Kitsap County sheriff spokesman Scott Wilson said medics were called to the Cottage Bay Apartments Monday afternoon after Jimmie J. Wright III called to report that a child had suffered a seizure.

When medics arrived, they found the child unconscious and rushed him to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton. He was later transferred to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma where he died.

According to Wilson, in an interview with deputies Wright said the boy was "going through" some of his personal belongings on a night stand in the master bedroom when Wright startled him and the boy fell backwards into the night stand. The boy lost consciousness and stopped breathing, Wright claimed.

Oh for those reading about jimmie for the first time on here....he was was arrested monday night on 2nd degree murder charges...for taking the life of his fiance's 2 year old son orlando. Pleading innocent in court on thursday. Saying the child hit his head on a nightstand and that's what caused the him to go brain dead, then changing the story and saying he tossed the baby to the bed and bounced his head like a "basketball" 6 times, before realizing the little boys body had gone stiff and was foaming at the mouth.
