William Echard killed his baby; Amber Messenger did nothing

A Harrison County man faces three counts of child abuse resulting in bodily injury.

Harrison County sheriff's deputies have arrested William Echard, 27 of Clarksburg. The criminal complaint says Echard shook his infant daughter when she would not stop crying and dropped her on his deck.

It also says Echard squeezed her face hard enough to leave bruises and broke her rib.

The child also suffered a skull fracture, torn retinas, and brain damage.

I know the person! He would not do anything to hurt his daughter. he also has a son and never done anything like that to him. The little girls mom didnt want the baby. She was rough with the baby. At the time this happened he wasnt home. They live with his parents. They also need to question Amber the mother. William also has a brother that has health problems, can't take care of himself, or talk and he has helped his parents with him and just saw them out walking 3 days ago. So those of you that don't know anything about the family needs to know both sides of the story. He wanted teh baby, she never!!!!!

William Echard II, 27, has been charged with child abuse by a parent or guardian resulting in death.

Twenty-two year old Amber Messenger, the child's mother, is being charged with knowingly allowing child abuse resulting in death, a felony.

Messenger was arrested early Tuesday morning, deputies said.

According to the criminal complaint, Echard took the infant and shook it by holding her under her arms and allowing the baby's head to shake back and forth. This was done with such violence that the child's retinas became detached and the child's brain was damaged and began to swell, the complaint states.

It also says: because of this incident of abuse and prior incidents where the child was dropped on its head with such force to crush its skull, the child was admitted to United Hospital Center in Clarksburg on July 16th.

Amber Messenger allegedly observed the abuse but did not attempt to stop it and never called for help, police said.

She went back to bed on July 16th and was awaken by the grandmother telling them that the baby wasn't breathing properly, the complaint says.

The baby was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital where she died on Monday afternoon around 3:30 p.m., deputies said.

Echard was originally charged with three counts of child abuse resulting in bodily injury.

Those charges were upgraded after the baby passed away, deputies said.

I hear ya, Pinki. My 3 yo, who is currenty sick with a cold, let out a very deep loud burp at the dinner table last night. I bolted from the kitchen to make sure she wasn't choking or something. As soon as she saw me she started laughing and said "I burped, Mommy".

Both of these POS need to fry for what happened to that baby girl.

Yeah. Her eyes are puffy in both pics posted of her. I was hoping with the first one (with her murderer) that she was just about to go down for a nap or something and was pink faced and grumpy. I like to hold out naive hope, but it has no place in this story. She was probably ultimately relieved to be dead. The poor thing.

I hope that nasty excuse for a woman is in jail and it's just one of her equally nasty (but not yet arrested) friend/ supporters posting on her page. I remember that Raye Dawn Smith's MySpace was active long after she was sentences to her (justly deserved) 27 years for enabling child abuse.

You are all right--the entire series of pictures shown here depict a baby who was never rested from pain or fear or unhappiness. One or two pics can make me think that the baby was restless for a moment, but knowing the outcome of this poor child's life and death and seeing soooo many of her pics that show a helpless baby in the arms of the people we know murdered her... heartbreaking.

And that fucking greasy nasty skank-cow of a bitch is hopefully logging on to say her goodbyes for a very long time. I clicked on the link to her page and see that she has Emily's pic as her profile pic. That precious baby should not have her picture in the hands of her murderers. I don't care which one did the physical damage; this child should have had protection and love, and got a lazy bitch who allowed her worthless penis to torture and murder her.

I hate them both. I hope they rot away in jail for a very long time, and even though I am always understanding of a family's love for their family members, anyone who condones what they did by writing it off as some kind of mistake or even denying the charges can rot in mental agony--in my fondest dreams, these types of idiots will fully realize exactly what they have endorsed and taken up for, and that knowledge will hopefully eat their souls.
