But Tazz, that doesn't make sense to me. How often do we hear about an innocent heterosexual man being raped by a gay man? I can say in my entire life I have never heard of that happening. Yet some men are willing to hate this entire group of people based on that unfounded fear? I understand there are cases of men raping little boys, but that is child molestation and in my opinion, a totally different story. Not saying that what you are saying isn't true, it just doesn't make a lick of sense.

I think it's more about certain people not liking people who are different than themselves. This has been going on since who knows when, with racism, sexism, etc. As time goes on we change, and realize that we were wrong. I wonder how long it will be until gay bashing becomes old-fashioned too.

Oookay, I stand corrected. I still don't think that is the reason why most people are anti-gay, but point taken.

the point that i am making is speaking solely in general terms...People who hate homosexuals are often lumped in as being "homophobes" when that is not always the case..if youre being literal most people who are just uncomfortable with the lifestyle are not AFRAID of gay people..just uncomfortable with it..

i think absolutely there is reason to fear any sexual orientation for crimes like rape...to say that gay people are equal to us and then put them on this pedestal like they never commit crimes is hypocritical at best..so sure there is reason to fear gays just as there is reason to fear any other joe schmoe we dont know who may commit crimes against us.

I was just trying to find a general word that everyone was more comfortable with since the argument seemed to be what to call people who are uncomfortable or do not agree with the homosexual lifestyle.

People who hate them should be called homosexualists..or sexists we dont call people who hate black people Blackophobic..we call them racists..so we shouldnt call those who HATE homosexuals homophobics...

Im not sure if my rambling cleared anything up. But I definately want to stress the fact that I was in no way saying that some people do not genuinely FEAR homosexuals.

I find that funny in particular. If someone told me right now, hey, you need to be attracted to women, I couldnt do it. I just cant. If I told a straight man, hey as of today, the law is you need to be attracted to men, they couldnt do it. Yet they seem to think that gays are different, that they can just change their sexual preference on a whim.

I have two brothers. One of them is straight, one of them is gay. The gay one is the "better" out of the two, he is graduating college this summer and is going on to med school, the straight one doesnt even have a job and was on academic probation for a year. Anyway, that wasn't exactly the point, the main point I wanted to make is that the gay one has always been different. Although I am ashamed of it now, I used to call him a "girl" when we were little. He has been this way for a long time, it isnt a choice he made.

Thanks Peeper, thank you for your comments. Although I knew that a lot of people at DD have different views, I figured that those who did just wouldn't post on this thread, I didn't expect people to be so nasty about it, especially knowing that it's a personal issue for some us.

Thank you to everyone in this thread who at least stated their opinion on the subject, whatever that may be, instead of acting like immature highschoolers. And I mean Aslan too, although I got pissed at your posts at least you had an opinion and you didnt just come in here cracking mean jokes and calling people names.

And Dmax, Peeperann has said several times she had a gay son, Im not sure why you didnt notice. I may be a bitch sometimes but at least I'm not prejudice, I wish I could say the same for some of you...

I dont know Nell, it's hard to tell on the internet what is a joke and what's not. I wasn't really pissed till someone started coming in here talking crap about the whole thread.
