    Toddlers test positive for crack

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Three toddlers were taken to an emergency room Wednesday, where they tested positive for crack cocaine, prosecutors said.

Tasha Cole, 17, has been charged with four counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Cole's 2-year-old son was one of the toddlers, and the other two children, ages 2 and 3, were also under her care.

According to court documents, Cole originally said the kids found the drugs at a neighbor's house, but she later admitted that she bought the crack and intended to sell it. She told investigators that she and the children were at her apartment when she cut up the cocaine on a plate and that the children had taken crumbs off the plate.

Court papers show that Cole's sons hands were covered with the cocaine, he had cocaine on his lips and he appeared to be chewing.

The children were taken to Children's Mercy Hospital when they started having seizures.

The toddler's grandmother told KMBC's Martin Augustine that she feared something like this would happen.

"Eventually I knew something was going to happen, but I just didn't know it would be this extreme," said the grandmother, who didn't want her name used. "Thank God my grandbaby is still alive."

The grandmother said that once doctors got the boy's seizures under control, the child was tested for flu. However, the grandmother insisted that doctors test for drugs, because she was concerned about the boy's well-being inside the apartment building.

The grandmother said she's upset with Cole, but she thinks someone else is also to blame.

"She shouldn't be the only person charged, because she is only 17. And I guess, what you say, follow by example, or something," the grandmother said.

Because she is only 17?? I'm not sure age has anything to do with it....but stupidity and ignorance certainly do.

so the 35 year old grandma (or however old she is) is saying that she should be arrested for not setting a better example for her child, who is a minor who also has a minor child? I mean, that's sort of how I read it....

If Grandma thought something was going to happen why didn't Grandma do something? Take custody of your grandbaby or call cps or something! Then again if she's the 17yr olds momma she may not be the best guardian. Considering her daughter had a baby at 15 yrs old and is a 17 year old crack head who almost killed 3 children!

Lead by example? Whose yours? What does that mean? She's obviously a selfish, immature, stupid ass crack head, hello! How about making her accountable for her own actions, that may be part of crack heads problems!

"Thank God my grandbaby is still alive.", Thankfully but when she's given that baby back he may not be as lucky the 2nd time around!
