Jason Farrington's 4-month-old injured twice since March; Now he's dead

A 4-month-old Arlington boy is dead. His father is now in police custody, charged with injury to a child with intent to cause serious bodily harm.

Police in Arlington arrived at a home around noon on Wednesday to find the child, Jayden Farrington, not breathing. Paramedics were already treating the infant, and rushed him to Arlington Memorial Hospital. He was stablized and taken to Cook Children's Medical Center, where he died Wednesday night from his injuries.

After talking to the victim's family members and witnesses, authorities returned to Jayden's home to arrest his father, 25-year-old Jason Antoine Farrington.

A 4-month-old boy who died Wednesday night had suffered skull fractures in March during another incident where police responded to his parents’ home, police said Thursday.

Jayden Farrington suffered two skull fractures on March 25, just over a month after being born according to police reports.

That investigation was ongoing by police and Child Protective Services when officers responded on Wednesday to another injury call involving Jayden. Officers arrived to find the baby not breathing.

There is another Jason Farrington, 25, on MySpace with a young son named Jayden and lives in TX. Not the same guy.

And yet he was returned to his parents. I am beginning to this CPS is trying to cull the population. They continually put the most vulnerable at the most risk. It's getting to the point where you can simply no longer blame lack of resources, lack of oversight, and incompetence, shrug it off with apologies and call for reform. Something needs to be done, on a national scale.

FFS! Since when is it acceptable to leave a child in the care of someone being investigated for child abuse? Just... wow.

4 months old, didn't stand a chance. Tragic.

Are we really shocked by this? CPS is understaffed, underpaid, overworked and in many cases has buffoons that won't remove a kid until they're dead. At which point, it's a little late.

A bit about what went down in March
    [...]
Arlington Police and Child Protective Services were already investigating a case from March 26, 2009 where Jayden was treated for multiple skull fractures and a fractured rib.

CPS spokesperson Marissa Gonzales says Jayden's mother, Pavielle Monique Simpson, was cleared of any wrongdoing. Since Simpson had no prior record, she was allowed to retain custody of her baby as long as she agreed to certain conditions.

Simpson had to move out of the apartment she shared with Jayden's father. She had to agree not to let Jason Farrington have any contact with her or their son. She also had to continue to take Jayden to his follow-up medical appointments.

Gonzales says case workers went to Simpson's new apartment at least once to check on her. They say she appeared to be following the rules, but this is the same apartment where Jayden was fatally injured on Wednesday.

"The child had new injuries, including abdominal injuries and new skull fractures," says Arlington Police spokesperson, Tiara Ellis Richard.

I hope they arrest the shit excuse for a mother, too. Did she think CPS made the rules just to fuck up her life? When it comes to fucking up her life, she obviously is very good at it and would not need their help.

With all the budget cuts and decreased tax revenue... you know how they always say we will lose police and firefighters and probably child care workers..... Bet the executives could take a pay cut.. Hey better yet put some of us in positions of charge to make our staff responsible and provide realistic expectations.

We need to solve problems in America and not send our money overseas to worse off countries. America is pretty piss poor in my opinion and not only does monies have to be spent at home but the whole system restructured so we get value for the money we are spending.

A 25-year-old Arlington man was sentenced to life in prison Tuesday after he pleaded guilty to injury to child in the June 2009 death of his 4-month-old son, the man's attorney said Tuesday.
    [...]

Under the plea, Farrington will have to serve at least 30 years of the 60-years-to-life sentence before he’s eligible for parole. A conviction on the capital murder charge would have been life without the possibility of parole.
    [...]

Jayden’s mother, Pavielle Monique Simpson, also faces a charge of injury to a child by omission.

Her trial date has yet to be set.

Child Protective Services worker had ordered Simpson, 24, to keep Farrington away from Jayden after the baby, then 1 month old, was hospitalized with skull fractures three months before his death.
