MUMBAI/THANE: In a bizarre incident, a six-month-old infant was allegedly raped by three persons at Dandi Pada in Boisar on Tuesday. The accused are cooling heels in the lock-up.
The accused have been identified as Ramu Dhadi, Jaypraksh Yadav and Guddu Yadav all residents of a slum at Dandi Pada. They have been remanded to police custody till July 1.
According to the police, the accused had a brawl with the parents of the victim when the latter caught them peeping through their window. "In a fit or rage, the trio who are neighbours of the family committed the heinous crime," said Sr PI Ganpat Pingle.
"The parents of the victim had gone to the market and left her behind with her maternal uncle. The uncle who was playing outside the house took her inside, as he had to attend the nature's call. Taking advantage of this, the trio entered the house and had unnatural sex with her," he said.
As the victim started crying, her uncle came running to see what had happened. At the same time, the parents of the victim had also reached home. "They saw the trio running out of their home. They immediately came to the police station to register a complaint. However, while they were on their way to the station, the trio even tried to threaten them," Pingle said.
The police have registered a case of rape. "We are waiting for the medical reports and are further investigating the case," he added.
