Rogue "minutemen" protect the border by shooting 9 year old inthe head.

SEATTLE, Washington (CNN) -- Raul Flores thought federal agents had barged with guns drawn into his home in Arivaca, Arizona, in the middle of the night.

The woman and two men wore uniforms and identified themselves as U.S. Marshals. They claimed the house was surrounded. They said they were looking for an escaped prisoner, Flores' wife told a 911 dispatcher.

But there was no backup waiting outside, and no fugitive. The marshals were imposters.

They had targeted Flores because they suspected he was a drug trafficker and they wanted to rob and kill him, according to the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

As the intruders searched his home, Flores asked one of the men why his handgun was taped. The man responded by shooting and killing Flores.

"Someone just came in and shot my daughter and husband," Flores' wife frantically told 911. She tells the police operator that she was shot and left for dead with her husband, Raul Flores, 29, and daughter Brisenia, 9, who were both shot in the head.

Police are not releasing the woman's name to protect her identity. But her 911 call, released to the media by the Pima County Sheriff's Department, tells the story of a deadly home invasion by a rogue band of impostors.

    [...]

Twelve days later police have the "marshals" in custody on charges of first-degree murder, burglary and aggravated assault. Police identified the suspects as Shawna Forde, 41, of Buena Vista, Arizona; Jason Eugene Bush, 34, of Kingman, Arizona; and Albert Robert Gaxiola, 42, of Tucson, Arizona.

As police put her into a car, Forde told reporters, "I did not do it." The Pima County public defender's office, which represents Forde, Bush and Gaxiola, did not return CNN's calls requesting comment.

Authorities from five different police departments in three states are investigating crimes allegedly involving the trio. Forde's arrest has had even greater reverberations across a community of private citizens who believe the government is not adequately protecting the nation's borders.

Forde was a one-time member of the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps, a citizens group whose self-described mission is to secure the U.S. border, before she started her own smaller border enforcement organization. The accusations against her have given more fuel to Minutemen critics who say the groups dangerously blur the lines between law enforcement and vigilantism.

Forde was well known in anti-immigration circles. She ran a failed campaign for City Council in her hometown of Everett, Washington, that touted her connections to the Minutemen. She posted videos on YouTube of her border patrols and was an outspoken fixture at Minutemen Washington meetings and rallies in Washington state.
Stupid asses saved some American JOBS! Those 9 year old little girls sure are a burden to society.

Fucking assholes. I wonder if they are in protective custody. As these people LOVE to point out, there is a large number of Latinos in the prisons. They won't be too happy.

It was absolutely heartwrenching to listen to the 911 call. She starts off remarkably calm, telling the operator that her husband and daughter had been killed and, as it sinks in (or something), she gets increasingly frantic.

While I would never wish this on anyone, especially to further an agenda, I'm glad it involved someone associated with the Minutemen... xenophobic fucks.

I feel sorry for her mother too. These people don't realize they are also hurting their own families when they commit crimes, or else they don't care about them either.

ARIVACA, Ariz. — An Everett woman may pay with her life for her alleged role in a double-murder plot allegedly linked to her obsession with drug trafficking on the border between the U.S. and Mexico.

Shawna Forde should face the death penalty if convicted of a May 30 home-invasion robbery in Arizona that left a young girl and her father dead, Arizona officials have decided.

Deputy Pima County attorney Kellie Johnson said Thursday that her office filed a notice Monday that prosecutors intend to seek the death penalty against Forde, Jason Eugene Bush and Albert Robert Gaxiola.

All three have pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and other charges.

“I don’t have any reaction other than the fact that they deserve everything they get,” said Forde’s half-brother, Merrill Metzger of Redding, Calif. “That’s all I can say. I believe you live by the sword, you die by the sword.”

The death penalty is an appropriate punishment for somebody found guilty of deliberate murder, even when it is family, Metzger said.

Forde’s mother, Rena Caudle, also of Redding, said she wasn’t surprised by the prosecutors’ decision, but felt numb.

Nobody in her family condones what Forde stands accused of doing, and they all are having a difficult time making sense of the motivation, she said. Police reports released so far would indicate that the robbers left empty handed and killed to make sure they left no witnesses.

“She got nothing out of that. It was all just wasted. Wasted effort. Wasted life,” Caudle said.

They deserve it. That 911 call was horrfying, knowing her family had been killed and that she is most likely to be next. Give them the needle.

Refreshing to see a family member condemning and not defending. Seems he and his half sister might have had some issues.

Blaming The Minutemen as a whole for this crime, would be like blaming the United States Army for the Oklahoma City bombing simply because Timothy McVeigh served in it's ranks. This was a robbery, not a political act.

Organizations like The Minutemen attract people who have no other reason to want to "protect" the border than xenophobia.

These people are just an example.

Organisations like that do tend to appeal to a certain type of person , I know a few myself . They pretend to have a cause just for the violence they enjoy . I used to like an occsasional fight myself , having kids put an end to that lol . The Minutemen actually sounds worthwhile , I think you have too many illegals sneaking in there .

There isn't an organization out there that doesn't have bad apples. It took years for me to legally enter the country, so I have issues with illegal boarder jumpers, I have no respect for those that enter by braking the law, entering a country as a criminal, tells me you have no respect for the laws or people of that country, you're entering to steal what you can from it.

This thread is not about "illegal boarder jumpers." This is about a 9 year old girl that was killed by a group of people known to attract violent racists under the guise of being the "average American citizen" wanting to protect the border. These people were targeted because of their ethnicity to rob for money to fund this woman's anti-immigration group. Do you think that just because you entered legally they would treat you any differently?

Now tell me how this 9 year old girl's murder helped in the fight against illegal immigration. I have not found one account that says that the members of this family were not American citizens.

According to the FBI, "hate" crimes against Latinos has risen by 40% from 2003 to 2007. Even though I do not believe in extra penalties for hate crimes, I still believe there are hate crimes out there.

This group borders dangerously on vigilante justice, especially when their form of justice usually means violence in response to a non-violent crime. Immigrating illegally.

If you want to keep the illegals from coming over, take away the reason why they come over...MONEY.

Start prosecuting the people that hire them all the way down to the housewife that gets the extra help from her maid Rosa on Wednesday and I guarantee they will stay put. Or they will continue to come over, but have more incentive to do it legally.

Ah. but no. That would mean putting some white skinned American's in jail. we can't do that.

Damn 9 year old. You got mixed up in the war against "boarder jumpers." Your penalty is DEATH.

Yes this was about a brutal murder, and murdering assholes, not boarder patrol or arresting legal Americans and giving card blanche to illegal border jumpers

I promise to only stand on my soapbox for a minute or two.

I live in an rural area with a large migrant population. I'm sure not all of them are legal.

As a whole this group of people are the hardest workers, most underpaid, law- abiding, and most ill treated people in the free world. A lot of them bring their families, some don't. A lot of them have become friends. I don't ask if they are legal.

Most of our ancestors (except Native Americans) came here under extreme hardship for a better life.

This is what I see, most of the Mexicans are trying to do the same. Yes, there are law breakers, I'm aware of that, but, so were some of our ancestors and sure hell a lot of legal law-breakers now.

What happened to "Give me your tired, your poor"?

Go ahead everyone, groan me, but I also am intitle to my opinion.

Yes I agree, many are hard working, and do jobs legal immigrants would not, just don't agree with entering illegal
Because anyone can enter including criminals, it's a give and take, the country does take advantage of illegals So lets stop it and no one takes advantage of anyone and we raise prices to make up for expensive labor

If the Thirteenth Amendment had never been adopted the U.S. would not need illegal aliens to do this work.

Well Pete, with the wages they are paid for the kind of work they do, it is probably the closest thing to accepted slavery we have today.

I have stated before in another thread they are the new American Slaves. It's a sorry day when we treat people this way. But, we have treated all non-Anglo Saxons in this manner.

Same treatment, just different nationality, different day. I too am not considered ""white".

Still, I still believe, imperfect as the USA is, it is till the best!

Former Minutemen member faces murder trial
Tucson, Arizona (CNN) -- Brisenia Flores arrived in her rural Arivaca, Arizona, home with her parents, Raul Flores and Gina Gonzales, on the evening of May 29, 2009.
The family had spent the day shopping for Brisenia's new shoes about 60 miles northeast in Tucson, her mother testified this week. The 9-year-old girl had just finished the third grade and needed the shoes for summer camp that was about to start, her mom told jurors.
A few hours later, she opened her eyes to the sight of her father, lying on the opposite couch. He had been shot in the chest and was choking on his own blood, her mom testified. Her mother was bleeding on the floor, a gunshot wound to her leg. The little girl was startled and cried out to intruders in her home, "Why did you shoot my mom?"

Gonzales described that scene to jurors in a Tucson courthouse this week in the capital murder trial of Shawna Forde, accused of being the ringleader of the fatal raid in the early hours of May 30. The trial, now in its second week, could last through the rest of the month.

Gonzales testified that four people knocked on the door, claiming to be law enforcement and border patrol. They said the house was surrounded because they had information that the family was harboring fugitives. Gonzales said her husband opened the door and allowed them inside, but they knew immediately that the people entering were not law enforcement at all.

She described a short, heavyset woman, a "super- tall" white male and two other Spanish-speaking men as the people in her home.

Gonzales says that after a short struggle, the tall man shot her husband several times in the stomach and chest before turning the gun on her. She was shot in the leg and fell to the floor when she heard her husband choking on his own blood. She says he could hear the gunman reassure Brisenia, who was awakened by the blasts of the weapon, that she wouldn't be hurt.

"She was really scared. Her voice was shaking," Gonzales cried as she testified in the witness stand. "I know she's crying and really scared."

Gonzales says her daughter began to question why her mother and father were shot when the gunman reloaded his weapon. "I can hear her say 'Please don't shoot me,' " Gonzales said, wiping away tears and sobbing.

The gunman paid no attention to her pleas and fired two shots into Brisenia's head, causing the girl to fly back on the couch, Gonzales recounted. She said she could hear her daughter struggling to breathe as the intruders began to steal items and leave the home. Gonzalez made her way to a weapon her husband kept in the kitchen and called 911.
    [...]
Flores and his young daughter, who just minutes before had been sleeping peacefully on the couch, were both dead.

Prosecutors say Forde, a vigilante anti-illegal immigration activist, was not only the woman described in the home but was also the ringleader of the home invasion and murder.

Forde was once a member of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps before being removed from the group for what members described to CNN as unstable behavior.

Saying the federal government has failed to secure America's borders, the Minuteman group took the job on itself and claims that its mission is to employ "civil protest, demonstration, and political lobbying" in protecting borders.

She formed a splinter group, Minutemen American Defense, and patrolled the Arizona-Mexico border armed with weapons. She led protests about the dangers and criminal activity along the porous border.

Prosecutors say Forde planned the raid and the murders in an elaborate plan to steal drugs, weapons and money to help fund her new anti-illegal immigration group. They allege that her accomplices were Jason Bush and Albert Gaxiola.

Bush, who is said to have been the gunman, was the national director of operations for the Minutemen American Defense. It's claimed that Forde brought Gaxiola into the plan to raid the home because he had inside knowledge that Raul Flores had drugs in the home. Flores had a history of drug-related offenses, but no drugs were found in the home.

During opening statements, the state laid out the case against Forde, who has pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors allege that jewelry taken from the home was found in Forde's possession, blood from the scene and a van used in the robbery came from Jason Bush and that text messages sent from a phone registered to Forde implicate her in the crime.

All three are charged with first-degree murder. If convicted, Forde will face the death penalty. Bush's trial is scheduled for March, and Gaxiola is set to go on trial in June.

The leader of an anti-illegal immigrant group was convicted Monday in an Arizona home invasion that left a 9-year-old girl and her father dead in what prosecutors called an attempt to steal drug money to fund border operations.

A Tucson jury found Shawna Forde, 42, guilty of the May 2009 killings of Raul Flores, 29, and his daughter Brisenia at their home in Arivaca, a desert community 10 miles north of Mexico.

The jury will return Tuesday to begin the penalty phase.

Forde had pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder and other charges stemming from the home invasion.

Her attorney, Eric Larsen, argued that Forde was never inside the home. Prosecutors disputed that contention, saying Forde was the ringleader if the operation.
    [...]

"She didn't put a gun to Brisenia's head ... but she was the one in charge," he said. "Because of that you must hold her accountable."
    [...]

Bush and Gaxiola go on trial in the spring.

Before coming to Arizona, Forde lived in Everett, Wash., where she ran for the City Council in 2007, promising to allow police to check the immigration status of suspects, according to news accounts.

Chris Simcox, founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, previously told The Associated Press his group kicked Forde out in 2007 amid allegations of lying and pretending to be a senior leader. Forde began her own group, bragging that it would be going after drug cartels, he said.

"We knew that Shawna Forde was not just an unsavory character but pretty unbalanced, as well," Simcox said.

This has got to be one of the most stupid miss leading fucked up titles of any story I've ever read on here
to purposely place blame on an innocent group is totally disgusting and misleading.
what a BS embarrassing flipping of facts maybe you just couldn't comprehend
Forde was a one-time member of the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps, a citizens group whose self-described mission is to secure the U.S. border,
    and turned it into this
"Rogue "minutemen" protect the border by shooting 9 year old in the head"
Maybe reading slower would be beneficial to you

I agree it's misleading and makes you think a group of minutemen opened fire on a group of immigrants wading across the Rio Grande, but I think it's right to use the term Minutemen. Forde was the head of her own splinter group called Minutemen American Defense, and Bush was her "National Director of Operations".

The 911 call is incredibly surreal. Obviously mom is distraught and in shock but I find it odd that she was complaining about her leg hurting when her husband and child had just been murdered. I've never been in a situation like that but I'm assuming one would say and do things that don't make sense in the midst of such a horrific tragedy.

That makes it real difficult to trust anything that is said in the first few hours. I've been shot, I've been stabbed, and that endorphine shit kicks in for a while. When it wears down, it is horrid! I'm thinking her endorphines kicked out in the midst of that!

I was about to post an update but I see it's been done.
Horrid case, the 911 calls is chilling. Due to the nature of the case seems a lot of media outlets didn't touch it, no surprise there. Was Brisenia Flores not the right color for news coverage? Hard for me to believe otherwise.

Wow... that little girl is obviously a drug runner and a threat to our national security and way of life. Good thing they got rid of that menace before things got out of hand!!
    /sarcasm off
That poor woman; if I had been in her situation I wouldn't have wanted to live through it. :(
