Police say Reginald Rice Jr. and his three-year-old nephew drove to Evansville on Wednesday. Around 12:30 p.m. police found the child in a car in a near north side parking lot. They say the windows on the car were partially down and the child did not appear to be in medical stress even though he had been left in the car for about two hours in 87 degree weather. Rice was booked under neglect charges and the boy was released to his mother after she drove from St. Louis to pick him up.

Officers say 21-year-old Reginald Rice, Jr. left his 3-year-old nephew in the car for over two hours at the Covance Medical building parking lot.
Police say Rice told them he had left the boy with his 19-year-old brother. Police called the brother, but say he was in St. Louis and hadn't even spoken to Rice.
Police say Rice later admitted to leaving the child alone. He faces felony neglect charges.
Police say the child's mother drove from St. Louis to pick him up, and says she didn't even know he had been taken to Evansville.
