HOUMA — A 45-year-old man is accused of trying to stab a 10-year-old boy in the back with a screwdriver Sunday.
Michael Amacker, 243 Magnolia St., Houma, was charged with aggravated assault after police found him on the 800 block of Lafayette Street at about 4:50 p.m. A caller told officers Amacker had been fist fighting and began to swing a screwdriver at a group of people gathered on nearby Academy Street, said Lt. Jude McElroy of Houma Police.
Amacker also allegedly swung the screwdriver at a 10-year-old boy during the disturbance. The pair began arguing because Amacker refused to move when the 10-year-old tried to empty a cup of water on the street, McElroy said. Officers found the screwdriver in his pants pocket when they arrested him.
