A 24 year old Moira man is accused of shaking his infant son on two separate occasions, causing the baby to suffer severe brain injuries.
State police charged David A. Lavertue with two felony counts of Reckless Assault of a Child and two misdemeanor counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
On the evening of May 21, Franklin County Child Protective Services notified state police that a five month old child was suffering from a potentially life threatening injury to his brain.
The victim, Ethan Lavertue, was treated at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone and subsequently transferred to Fletcher Allen Health Care Center in Burlington Vermont, where he was admitted in critical condition.
The full extent of brain damage is unknown.
