    Eric Crowe severely abused month old infant

    Police arrested a 19-year-old Covington man Friday after he allegedly severely and repeatedly injured a month-old infant.

    Eric Crowe, of 416 E. Rutland St., was booked with two counts of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile. The infant girl was being treated at Tulane Medical Center when doctors determined her injuries were deliberately inflicted, Covington Police spokesman Capt. Jack West said.

    Police refused to release details on the girls injuries, but West described the case as one of "worst cases of child abuse in the department's history." He said the girl had been hurt on several occasions and some of her injuries were already healing when she was brought to the hospital for her most recent wounds.

    Police were notified of the injuries about two weeks ago and had been working to establish whether the injuries were deliberately inflicted.
