Kevin Bordwell sexually assaulted a 9-year-old girl at gunpoint

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man wanted in connection with a sexual assault of a 9-year-old girl at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon in Englewood.

The suspect is Kevin Carroll Bordwell, 43, whose last known address is on Anita Avenue in Englewood. The Sheriff’s Office is not disclosing where the incident occurred, but spokesman Bob Carpenter said Bordwell entered a residence carrying a gun and is known to the victim.

Bordwell is considered armed and dangerous. He is white, about 6 feet 3 inches tall and 180 pounds, with thin dark brown hair with some gray.

He was last seen wearing a blue checkered button-down shirt with jean shorts, brown belt and brown slip-on shoes. He is possibly driving a 2002 red four-door Mercury Marquis with Florida license plate EN85Z.

He is wanted on charges of capital sexual battery, burglary with battery and armed burglary.

I was going to let my 9 yr old daughter stay home this summer with my sister who is fixing to be 16, but after the nausiating # of stories like this I think I will send her to summer day camp through the school! Scratch that I am going to quit my job and lock her in a panic room until she turns 18 and then lock myself in.
What the hell is going on when your kids are raped a gunpoint in their own homes? Where are the parents, babysitters, somebody that is supposed to protect them? *sigh* just crazy!

Man suspected of raping girl found dead in Iowa
PUNTA GORDA, Fla. (AP) — A man accused of raping a 9-year-old girl at gunpoint in Florida has been found dead in north central Iowa.
Kevin Carroll Bordwell’s body was found in Hamilton County on Wednesday night with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the Charlotte County sheriff’s office said Thursday.
Bordwell, 43, parked his car at his mother’s home in Stratford, Iowa, then walked about two miles to the intersection where his body was found, Hamilton County Chief Deputy Scott McConnell told KCCI-TV.
U.S. Marshals were alerted to his possible presence in the area Wednesday when he used an ATM in Webster City, KCCI reported.
Bordwell allegedly entered an Englewood home on Tuesday and raped the child, detectives said. He was wanted on charges of capital sexual battery, burglary with battery and armed burglary.
Authorities said it was not clear where Bordwell was headed. He graduated from Webster City High School in 1984.
A nationwide alert had been issued for Bordwell and his Mercury Marquis.
