Early this Thursday morning a robbery suspect found himself in the wrong place, doing the wrong thing – at the wrong time.
At 12:52 a.m. Clackamas County Deputy Sheriff, Jeffrey Juker, witnessed a male subject running from the Shell gasoline station, located at 10725 SE 82nd Avenue, in Milwaukie. Almost instantaneously, Clackamas County Dispatchers broadcast an armed robbery event being telephonically reported by the victim/clerk from this Shell station.
Deputy Juker and multiple Sheriff's Patrol personnel began to swarm into the area and establish containment around the vicinity of where the suspect had been observed by Deputy Juker running from the scene.
Deputy Juker was able to locate and retain an item he observed the suspect ‘ditch' while fleeing the scene - a plastic squirt-gun.
Clackamas County Sheriff's Canine "Nero" and his handler Deputy Brad O'Neil arrived to aid in the search of the suspect. Within minutes Nero and his handler detected and recovered the suspects' knife, towel and sunglasses discarded by the suspect as he fled the scene.
Moments later the suspect was discovered by Nero hiding in a cart-return in the Winco parking lot a short distance from the Shell station. This suspect was taken into custody of Clackamas County Sheriff's Patrol personnel and ultimately transported to the Clackamas County Jail and lodged.
Money believed to have been taken during robbery event was also recovered and identified as evidence by Sheriff's Patrol personnel investigating this armed robbery event.
The apprehended suspect is identified as: John Robert Herman, age 24; who provided a residential address of 11492 SE 90th, in Happy Valley. (Photo Attached)
