California man arrested with 13 pounds of liquid meth in truck washer fluid container

A California man is in custody after U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers found liquid meth in his truck's washer fluid container.

Agency spokesman Chris Leon says officers at the Naco port of entry in southeastern Arizona were performing anti-terrorism and anti-smuggling operations Wednesday when they decided to conduct a routine inspection of a 55-year-old man's pickup truck.

Officers found that the truck's washer fluid container had more than 13 pounds of a liquid form of methamphetamines with a street value of nearly $1 million. The man was trying to enter Arizona from Mexico.

The man was arrested and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation.

With water weighing over 8lbs /gallon, I am assuming what gave him away was the almost 2 gallon windshield washer container. normally they hold a quart at most. I wonder if they turned the wipers on.

You have to drive through a big ass x-ray machine, it not like they wont notice a gigantic windshield wiper reservoir. Thanks for doing the math, I was being lazy about figuring how much a gallon of water weighed.

    Math early saturday morning.

The math is easy to do in your head, if you remember that an ounce of water weighs one ounce. So one quart (32 ounces) weighs two pounds (sixteen ounces to a pound). So four quarts (one gallon) weighs eight pounds.

Naco, Ariz. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Naco port of entry stopped a unique attempt at smuggling narcotics into the country yesterday when they found “liquid” methamphetamines in the washer fluid reservoir of a 2000 GMC pickup.

“This is a significant interception of dangerous narcotics at the Port of Naco. Skilled CBP officers detected this load and stopped it from reaching our communities. Our CBP officers engage challenges such as these everyday. Great job by all involved,” said Adalberto Acuna, CBP port director at the Naco port of entry at approximately 9:30 a.m. yesterday, CBP officers were performing anti-terrorism and anti-smuggling operations at the Naco port of entry when they encountered a 55-year-old man from California, entering from Mexico. During routine questioning, the officer asking questions became suspicious of the driver and decided the vehicle needed a more intensive inspection.

The vehicle was sent to a secondary inspection area where a CBP narcotics canine alerted to the odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle. CBP officers searching the vehicle discovered that the washer fluid reservoir contained what turned out to be a liquid form of methamphetamines. The narcotics, more than thirteen pounds, were seized along with the vehicle. The driver, a lawful permanent resident of the United States, was arrested and turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation and prosecution.

The methamphetamine from this seizure has an estimated street value of over $982,400.00.

I would have laughed if the guy would have methed up his windshield.

We used to have a friend that kept liquor in the reservoir. It was routed into the glove compartment. Sort of a portable mini-bar. For some odd reason, we thought it was "cool". I guess I was really easy to impress in my youth.

Kind of reminds me of that new snapple comercial, with the NEW and better stuff. I saw on one site a guy was bragging about his liquid Meth, he just pours it into his Red Bull and glugs it down all day long.

A new form of meth has surfaced in North Alabama. The Marshall County Drug Enforcement Unit ran across a liquid form of the drug.

"It was kind of a surprise to find something new right in the middle of I guess the meth epidemic that we've had for so long," says Ricky Phillips, commander of the Marshall County Drug Enforcement Unit.

Liquid meth surfaced in Arab on two different people in two different locations about two weeks ago. "We just kind of stumbled up on it by accident and investigating it, found out that it was already pretty common on the streets," says Phillips.

Phillips says the new drug is new to Alabama and is relatively unheard of across the nation. But earlier this year, U.S. officials ran across liquid meth that was being smuggled in from Mexico. It was hidden in tequila bottles.

"Being in liquid form, it can be disguised in any kind of container," says Phillips. While Phillips says there's not much difference in how the drug is used, the big concern is how it can be concealed.

There's also a fear that it's even more potent than it's crystal counterpart.

"The guy we got this from said comparing it to ice or regular crystal meth that it was stronger and better than any that he had used," says Phillips.

Phillips is alerting surrounding law enforcement officials on the new drug and how it can be hidden. "We've put together a flyer that we've put together, getting out to all the local patrolmen to be watching for it," says Phillips.

Investigators aren't sure how liquid meth is made, or exactly what's in it. A sample was sent to the Alabama department of forensic science to find out.

Back in the late part of 2008 they caught 2 other turds in Idaho, doing the same thing. Kind of tricky , hiding it in the radiator overflow & windshield washer bottle. If you get pulled over its not a place the cops would look for drugs at. Or at least it wasnt untill they got busted.

“They arrived late Friday night early Saturday morning (and) immediately make a call to our undercover officer to make the meet,” “We had them come to a house and park the car they had driven - up we call it a load car - they wanted a place where they could dismantle the car where they had hidden the narcotics in the car.”

The men had the liquid meth stashed in various parts of the car. One place was the car's radiator overflow container as well as the windshield washer fluid bottle.
Sergeant Kevin Wittmuss said they arrested Juan Pangiagua-Pacheco, and Gregorio Camacho-Pangiagua in the bust. The men were making plans to bring the drugs into Boise and unknowingly contacted an undercover narcotics detective and told him about it.

These two people arrived - parked their car in a garage here in a house ... and we started watching them dismantle parts of their car," Wittmuss said.

The two were dismantling their car, officials say, because that's where they were hiding the liquid meth - including the windshield washer fluid container.

Wittmuss said the two drove from Marietta, Georgia and arrived in Boise Friday. During the arrest, detectives found 1.35 pounds of liquid methamphetamine in a very pure state.

The men planned to process the drugs, mixing it with other chemicals to sell, which would have yielded about $43,000 on the street.
