Scott Knudsvig hits youth baseball coach

ANTIOCH, Ill. - A north suburban Chicago man has been arrested for punching a youth baseball coach over a comment made after a game.

Scott Knudsvig of Antioch has been charged with battery and criminal damage to property. Police say the 42-year-old punched and shoved the coach of his son's opposing team. Officials say the coach's glasses were broken and he suffered swelling and abrasions.

The altercation allegedly took place while the 13 and 14-year-old players were lining up after a game to shake hands. Knudsvig says the coach was rude to his son. He says he pushed the coach but didn't punch him.

Knudsvig says he was then assaulted by about 10 other parents who tackled him. He says he has marks "all over" his chest.

Police say only one other parent intervened.

Parents likes these are showing a poor example for their child.

The parent of a Little League baseball player in Antioch was charged with battery after he allegedly attacked a coach from the opposing team Sunday for making an "inappropriate" comment to his son, police said.

Scott Knudsvig, 42, of Bristol, Wis., had a child on the Antioch 13- and 14-year-old baseball team that was playing a Grant Township team at Antioch Upper Grade School on Sunday.

Antioch Police Department Comdr. Jim Ruth said Knudsvig told him a coach on the Grant Township team made a remark to his son so he approached the coach after the game. Knudsvig then punched the coach in the face and pushed him down onto the ground. The coach's glasses broke and another parent broke up the fight.

Knudsvig was charged with battery and criminal damage to property, Ruth said.

According to an e-mail signed "disgusted spectator of the game" the parent and the first-base coach for Grant Township had been trading remarks the whole game. At the end of the game when both teams congratulate each other, the parent charged onto the field and "took down" the coach.

The e-mailer, who did not agree to be named, also blamed the coach for not rising above the comments and for encouraging the rage.

My son played youth sports for about ten years. You can really see some ugly behavior from the parents from time to time, especially in baseball.

How are kids supposed to learn values such as good sportsmanship when the parents turn into giant pre-schoolers at a game? Seriously folks, grow the fuck up, you have kids to raise.
This planet has - or rather had - a problem, which was this: most of the people living on it were unhappy for pretty much of the time. Many solutions were suggested for this problem, but most of these were largely concerned with the movement of small green pieces of paper, which was odd because on the whole it wasn't the small green pieces of paper that were unhappy.
