This video is getting a ton of interest. It seems a bit staged to me. Like it could be fake, or the puppy could have already been dead. But who knows?

oh my, that is awful. I saw a bit of it on the news at dinner. You can hear the poor little thing crying after being thrown.

It looks like the puppy was perfectly fine, and you can hear whimpers. The video looks fucked up. I hate people who hurt babies and animals. The defenseless ones who cannot help themselves.
If this video is deemed for real, then my guess is; either the government will toss him out of the service calling him a sick "puppy" (yes, the pun intended), or they'll excuse him, saying it was "stress of the battlefield" that made him do such a heinous crime, and the pup was already ill or injured.
I will be interested to see how this story all comes down.

Anal Breeze - Guys like this are not considered heroes. They are considered assholes - especially by the other service members to whom they are giving a bad name. The military, just like any other cross section of the human race will necessarily have a few fucked up individuals who are trying to pass themselves off as human. Don't judge them all by the actions of one (or in this case three). My husband (who has been on three tours to Iraq - four if you count the short tour), would never do something like this. He can't even understand why I don't want our dogs to come in the house after a hard rain (it's because they track in mud and jump on my furniture!).
And Hippie - I will be interested to see what they do as well. I think if it's proven to be a real event, the guy who did the throwing will probably get a DOD, and the other two will at the very least be busted down a rank or two. But they probably do ALL need counseling for the shit they have had to see and do over there.

Well, maybe I am quick to jump the gun a bit with assuming it is real but it wouldn't be the first time that I have seen soldiers in Iraq tormenting an animal. There was a petition going around in January '07 demanding that these unknown soldiers be found, investigated, and reprimanded for tormenting a crippled dog after someone came across a CD in Baghdad's Green Zone containing the video.

One time when I was about 10 years old and my dad was gone doing whatever dads do when they're gone! My mom and I were home alone and this giant white wolf lookin' dog was hiding outside our house in the country. Everytime we went outside it would jump out and growl at us. It scared the shit out of me one day when I got off the school bus... It chased me to the front door and was barkin' and showin' his teeth! Finally my mom got my dad's rifle out and shot warning shots at the dog! I swear it felt just like Cujo... "fuck you, dog" i thought to myself as my mom shot one more time! She shot the fuckin' dog in the leg! Well, a few days went by and I was fuckin' around in one of the barns and the dog was there growlin' at me! All bloody and just layin' there, it didn't seem so scary anymore! I fed the dog ham sandwiches and it started to act like it wasn't wanting to eat me anymore! My dad came home and I cried until he took the thing to the vet and got him fixed up! I got to keep the dog for about the whole summer until to owner of the dog heard we had it! I cried again when it was taken away from me! The owner thanked me for takin' good care of him and told me I could come visit anytime I wanted! I never did see that dog again and heard it was hit by a truck the next summer! :(
Most certainly after seeing swivel's video, the video I posted doesn't compare at all really.
However, I think it takes a pretty heartless person to see a crippled dog and decide to start pegging it with big rocks just to hear him crying and watch him try to get away on two feet. The dog clearly was already in enough pain as it was, and should've promptly been put out of his misery. Instead, they proclaimed that this was the funniest thing they have ever seen.
I just noticed that between the two videos,
A. They both were injuring dogs
and
B. They thought it was humorous.

The family's telephone number has been disconnected, and a woman at the home declined to speak with a reporter Monday night. Social-networking Web pages, including those on MySpace and Facebook, maintained by the Marine and his family members also have been taken down.
The Sheriff's Office was not able to trace the threatening phone calls, but deputies have been driving by the Monroe home to "keep an eye on things," Hover said.

The USMC have not verified if it is in fact him that did it, but he has taken responsibility for his actions via the internet. This quote was taken on bebo.com where he used to have an account. His account has been made private and he removed all photos. Someone claiming to be a relative said that the bebo was actually his. He still has a myspace apparently, but it has since been blocked. A friend of his claimed this was in a blog on his myspace:

But a family friend denies that this was actually his myspace. I am going to try to see if I can get some more information regarding this but it will be hard as this is over 2 months old and he doesn't appear to log onto any of his accounts anymore.

this is such bullshit on so many levels, i don't even know where to start. i've gotten banned in other places because i called this loser the douchebag cocksucker that he is. yeah, it's tough over there. i have a military background & it's tough. what the fuck did that poor dog have to do with him being there??????? jackshit!!!!!! putting it out of his misery is a lameass pussy excuse for abuse. whaaa, whaaa, whaaa, his poor family......they raised & taught him his lack of values, they should burn in hell too. my kids may very well be on the front page someday, but it damn straight won't be for total, asshole cruelty.

the disgusting fact is that i have seen worse & they live in my house. my first dog was hung. supposed to be a method of training. i had a cat that was put/tied into a bag of fiberglass insulation & left in an abandoned apt. starvation you can't imagine. i have a coonhound who had his head cracked open with what the vets think was a baseball bat. he's a total sped. there is no fucking excuse anyone can ever give me that justifies this shit. i don't give a fuck if you're a priest, boy scout or a whore. i don't give a shit if you're (not you, just collective) have been abused are drunk or god told you to. nothing in anyone's past justifies being deliberately cruel to weaker creatures. nothing.

That video really fucking disgusted me. I can understand that they can't take the dog with them, and that they can't do anything to help it. However they didn't need to kill it (even if it may have died). If they needed to really put the pup down, then they could have done it humanly, without all the laughter and bullshit... and certainly without throwing it off a fucking cliff.
I seriously hope that this video does destroy this guys career, because it has nothing to do with anyone else but this jackass literally throwing his career and livelihood away.

The first time I saw this, I did a double take. As sick as it is, I watched it several times trying to figure out if it was fake or not. It makes me sick to think it was real.

What a trio of turds, there is an abismal diference between shooting a dog to an instant death as oposed to making his last seconds those of sheer terror as he falls down with the posibility of it surviving the fall and slowly and painfully dieing of the injuries... Scum.
