Gerald Soundsleeper killed his girlfriend

Gerald Soundsleeper, 37, pleaded no contest to manslaughter in the death of DeSantiago, whose body was found in the bathroom of her apartment near 14th and D streets on Aug. 4, 2006.

An autopsy revealed that DeSantiago, 43, had significant injuries to her head and face and died of blunt force trauma.

Mathers, in recounting the factual basis of the charge during Friday’s hearing, said Soundsleeper and DeSantiago began a relationship around July 4, 2006. They lived in the same apartment building, and both drank heavily throughout the relationship, Mathers said.

In the days before her death, Mathers said, DeSantiago told Soundsleeper she no longer wanted to have a relationship with him.

I am thinking how his last name originated. Some how I don't think it was meant to be flattering. Someones great great grandpa down the line, was sleeping at the wheel.
